Record Group: 9 C Scope and Content Note This Sub-Group brings together a number of small collections of memorabilia items relating to student days at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Some of the items have been donated by alumni or family members of alumni. Material in the collections of this Sub-Group include photographs, news clippings, posters, and pins. For Office of Public Information (OPI) photographs, ask the University Archives about collection C:1/141/6. Series Descriptions: This Sub-Group is divided into a number of separate collections. The order is entirely arbitrary. Inventory Collection 1 (A94-24) - DOLL, Paul N. Materials include eleven pins from
St. Patrick's Weeks, (1936, 1984-1993). There are also photos of various banquets,
(1966-1987), the Mystical Seven, (1936), and a card with Mr. Doll's biographical
information. Collection 2 (A94-33) - LANG, Edward W. Materials include photographs of
St. Patrick's Week, (1941). Topics include St. Patrick's Ball, Parade, Queen
Candidates, and St. Patrick himself. There are also newspaper articles about
the Queen Candidates, (1940). This Collection also includes a poster of the Thirty Eighth Edict of St. Patrick, (1940). Collection 3 (A94-35) - GETTINGER, Leonard A. The collection contains
five pins related to St. Patrick's Week, (1933-1937). It also houses a photo
of the Nineteenth Annual National Convention of Pi Tau Sigma at Texas, (1936). Collection 4 (A94-38) - NOLTE, Byron H. Materials include two St. Patrick's
Week pins, (1953-195), and a Student ID Card, (1954). Collection 5 (A94-44) - BURNSIDE, Howard S. Materials include three
pins from St. Patrick's Week, (1937-1939), a St. Patrick's Ball Program, (n.d.),
and pages from issues of the Savitar related to the College of Engineering,
the Engineer's Club, the Shamrock Staff, and the St. Patrick's Board,
(1936-1939). Collection 6 (A94-84) - ZELADE, Irving R. This collection contains nine
pins/buttons related to St. Patrick's Week, (1935-1951). Collection 7 (A94-118, A95-67) - TAYLOR, Orval F. Materials vary in
this collection that contains newspaper articles related to the MU Baseball
Teams, (1911-1914), along with photographs and postcards. Photographed topics
include MU Students, (n.d.), St. Patrick, (n.d.), Kow Tow, (n.d.), MU Baseball
Team, (n.d.), Dormitory Room, (n.d.), Columns, (1911), Senior Class, (n.d.),
Steinmetz Club, (1913), and the Jouran Degree Team, (1914). Collection 8 (A97-71) - BAUGHMAN, William L. Collection consists of a photograph of the March 18, 1907 Kow Tow, donated by Jack Baughman. Collection 9 (A98-5) - SPURGEON, Joseph H. Collection consists of a photograph of the 1913
Kow Tow, donated by Joan Zaliagiris. Collection 10 (A00-47) - MIMS, Mrs. James S. Collection consists of a St. Patrick's Week pin from 1932 that is connected in some manner to Dorothy Finke. Collection 11 - UNIDENTIFIED. Collection contains a poster of the Thirty-fourth Edict
of St. Patrick, (1936), a poster of the Sixty-seventh Edict of St. Patrick,
(1971), and a full page newspaper article of St. Patrick's Week from the St.
Louis Post Dispatch, (March 24, 1940). Collection 12 - Collection contains miscellaneous photographs of Engineering Week events, (1919, 2006). Included in the collection are digital photographs of the Engineering Week prank, (2006), a photographic print of the "Guard of St. Patrick" lights, (1919), and a photographic print of a model pond, (n.d.). Collection 13 (A16-31) - PHILPOTT, Charles M. (BS EE 1963, MS EE 1964). Collection consists of six St. Patrick's/Engineering Week buttons (1959-1964), donated by Jay Philpott. Restrictions Note: The Archives of the University of Missouri-Columbia is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files. Consultations with legal counsel, both in-house and external, are protected by the attorney/client privilege and will not be released.
