Scope and Content Note
This Sub-Group contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Engineering's Office of Engineering Communications and Office of External Relations. Included in this Sub-Group are newspaper clippings, programs (for commencements, pep rallies, dances, and awards banquets), St. Patrick's Day materials, photographs, photographic slides, films, yearbooks, bulletins, pamphlets, Engineering Week materials, news releases, posters, and manuscript histories of events pertaining to the College of Engineering.

Series 7. - C:9/13/7
This Series contains College of Engineering posters. Included in this Series are a damaged 1908 newsprint poster with the partial title of ". . .in Go Bragh - Suspend Somniferous - Saturnian Study," a 1947 hand-lettered poster bearing the message, "Proclamation - Hear Ye!! Hear Ye!! Heed my warning," a poster stating, "The Forty-Fourth Proclamation of His Honor Saint Patrick" (ca. 1947), a 1949 blueprint poster proclaiming St. Patrick's Day, and proofs of four posters announcing the 1979 rededication of the College of Engineering's 1882 Edison Generator. Additionally included in this Series are pamphlets relating to the generator rededication and associated College of Engineering open house.

Series 8. - C:9/13/8 (A09-68)
This Series contains records created and received by the External Relations Office in the College of Engineering, (1905-2008, bulk 1960-2000). The records consist of administrative files concerning the various publications produced by the office, including Ingenuity, Views from the Columns, and other newsletters. Also included in the Series are College of Engineering news releases, (1976-1995), and press clippings, (1971-2004). Series 8 also contains printed and duplicated materials from the College of Engineering, including The Shamrock, (1906-1992), the College of Engineering's annual report, (1966-1997), newsletters, bulletins, brochures, pamphlets, directories, and event programs. In addition the Series includes photographic prints, negatives, and slides documenting College of Engineering events, some of which were used in production of College of Engineering publications. This Series also contains: video tapes and audio cassettes, including Croft lectures and other engineering-related topics; Engineering Week materials such as St. Patrick edicts and proclamations; and College of Engineering award plaques.

Note to Researcher: The materials in this Series were transferred to University Archives subsequent to the closing of the Heritage Room in the College of Engineering in 2009. Many of the items were part of the Heritage Room collection.
Note to Archivist: The box lists for this Series are available online. They can be accessed by following this link. Most of the award plaques were retained only as digital images.
Restrictions Note: The Archives of the University of Missouri-Columbia is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files. Consultations with legal counsel, both in-house and external, are protected by the attorney/client privilege and will not be released.
