Record Group: 9 C Record Sub-Group: 20 Records Title: UMC; College of Engineering; Engineering Communications; Press Releases and Photographs Dates: 1971-1976 Volume: 1 cubic foot, 1.25 linear feet Scope and Content Note (A79-26) This Record Sub-Group contains press releases and other correspondence as well as black-and-white photographic prints of various sizes created by or routed through the Office of Engineering Communications of the College of Engineering at the University of Missouri-Columbia. The records also include interdepartmental memoranda and other materials such as news clippings and event invitations that were routed through Engineering Communications. Topics covered by the releases include research news, faculty news such as hirings and awards, student awards, Engineers' Week, and other College of Engineering events. The photographs in this Subgroup were part of the press releases and depict, for the most part, faculty members, award presentations, and students. Historical Note: The records were created during the period when Philip A. Lincoln was Director of Engineering Communications and William R. Kimel was Dean of the College of Engineering. Series Descriptions: This Record Sub-Group is not divided into series. The arrangement follows the original order of the bound press releases. The photographs have been detached from the original releases, placed in protective sleeves, and interleaved in front of the corresponding document. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files.
