Scope and Content Note

This Record Sub-Group contains records collected by Ralph Louis Scorah, a professor in the College of Engineering. Materials include newspaper articles, photographs, negatives, 35mm slides, and glass slides. Topics covered include St. Patrick's Day celebrations, University preparations for WWII, the hiring of Dean Curtis, the Mechanical Engineering Laboratory, and numerous reels of film that have recorded various experiments that Mr. Scorah conducted.

Biographical Note:

Ralph Scorah was hired by the University on September 21, 1935 as an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering. He was appointed Associate Professor in 1942 and Professor in 1943. He was a professor at the University until his death in 1969. During his tenure he was a member of the Committee on University Policy in 1955 and served as the Chairman of the Department of Engineering from 1957-1958. In 1967 his title was changed to Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. After his death he was bestowed the title of Professor Emeritus of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
