Scope and Content Note
This Record Sub-Group contains administrative working files generated by the University of Missouri-Columbia, College of Education ("School of Education" prior to 1947) Dean's Office. Included in this Sub-Group are annual reports, course schedules, textbook lists, student and faculty files, teacher certification files, correspondence, memoranda, audit reports, meeting minutes, audio and video tapes, and statistical data. Topics in this Sub-Group include scholarships, awards and grants, conferences and conventions, the Laboratory School, the Missouri State Teachers' Association, the Ambassador Education Program, mainstreaming of the handicapped, the National Support Systems Project, a cooperative teacher education program with Prince of Songkla University, Technical and Economic Cooperation Initiative, Department of Defense Dependent Schools Certification, goals and objectives, and Education Day. Also included in the Sub-Group are photographs of some students, faculty, and staff of the College of Education.

This Series contains three items of memorabilia assembled by the Dean's Office of
the College of Education. Included in the Series is a "Citation of Merit," from the College, (1968), a commemorative proclamation recognizing the centennial of the founding of the College of Normal Instruction in 1868, (1968), and a large aerial photograph of the MU campus, (ca. 1960).

This Series contains administrative records created or received by the University of Missouri's College of Education Dean's Office, (1975-1994, bulk 1988-1994). The Series contains correspondence, memoranda, conference documents, presentations, meeting minutes, agendas, bylaws, reports, and statements. The records in this Series represent general administrative duties as well as departmental committee and conference proceedings. Conference proceedings in this Series include the Holmes Group Faculty conference papers, proceedings, and reports, (1988-1992) as well as the Board of Directors meeting minutes, (1993-1994). Documents of the Association of Colleges and Schools of Education in State Universities and Land Grant Colleges and Affiliated Private Universities Conference include conference materials, programs, and proceedings of as well as a survey of Faculty Salaries and Graduate Assistants Stipends. Documents of the Task Force on the Evaluation of Teaching consist of minutes, notes and handouts, (1972-1992). Series 14. - C:8/1/NP (A95-161)
This Series contains records created or received under the direction of Bob Woods while Dean of the College of Education, (1966-1986) and later as the Director of the International Programs and Studies Center, (1987-1991). The bulk of the records in this Series deal with a grant-supported cooperative teacher education program jointly sponsored by the University of Missouri-Columbia and Prince of Songkla University (PSU) in Thailand, (1978-1995). Records of inspection tours by the faculty of both institutions are included in this Series as are general administrative records such as correspondence, memoranda, telegram, press releases, newspaper articles, reports, newsletters, meeting minutes and supporting documentation, copies of contracts, grant materials, and development plans. Also included in this Series are records dealing with Department of Defense Dependent Schools (DoDDS) Certification and the Technical and Economic Cooperation Initiative (DTEC).

The records consist of video tapes, both commercial and amateur productions, relating to the College of Education (COE), COE courses, or general education issues. Included among the video tapes are television newscasts, a COE event with Chancellor Charles Kiesler, (1994), education-related programs, and a football brunch with Larry Smith, (1994). Also included in the Series are blazer crests of the Ambassador Education Program, (1980).

Note to Archivist: When these accessions were initially received they contained numerous grievance-related materials both in discrete folders and intermingled with the other personnel files. Based on the applicable record authorization, any folder with grievance material was returned to the originating office resulting, in a few instances, in incomplete personnel files.

This Series contains administrative and miscellaneous records created and received by the Office of the Dean in the College of Education at the University of Missouri, (ca. 1993-2020). The records consist of the following types and topics: affirmative action reports, annual reports, Professional Education faculty reports, Grace Bibb Society, the Center for the Prevention of School Violence, the Hook Center for Educational Leadership and District Renewal, faculty, staff, and alumni biographies and curriculum vitae, and photographs of buildings, events, and individuals. Also included in Series 30 are letters and certificates of accreditation, (2001-2014); event records, (2001-2017), for awards banquets, new faculty luncheons, the Bibb Society dinners, tailgates, staff retreats, and the High Flyer award; committee lists, (1999-2002); faculty and academic policy manual updates, (1999-2020); the Missouri Quality Award, (2013-2015); organizational charts, (2004-2020); committee meeting minutes, (1999-2018), including faculty, executive council, dean, academic leaders, and staff; curriculum change requests, (2002-2004); and strategic planning records, (2000-2015).

This Series contains records created by the College of Education's Alumni Organization, (1995-2018). The records consist of board meeting minutes, committee membership lists, committee reports, correspondence, and by-laws. The College's Alumni Organization is an affiliate of the University of Missouri's Alumni Association.

This Series contains correspondence of the Dean of the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Missouri, (2021-2024). The correspondence is from Dean Timothy Christopher Riley-Tillman.

Note to Archivist: Riley-Tillman was interim dean from the 1st of December, 2021 through the 16th of October of 2022. He served as dean from the 17th of October, 2022 until June 30, 2024.
Restrictions Note: The Archives of the University of Missouri-Columbia is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files. Consultations with legal counsel, both in-house and external, are protected by the attorney/client privilege and will not be released.
