The hospital was known as the Ellis Fischel State Cancer Hospital from the 1940's until ownership of the hospital was transferred to the University of Missouri in 1990. Included in this Sub-Group are meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, financial reports, Cancer Commission By-laws, grievance procedures, departmental activity reports, the newsletter Proceedings, staff articles written for other publications, symposium and conference files, Tumor Board quarterly reports, and black-and-white prints and negatives of photographs used in Marketing and Public Relations Office publications. Series Descriptions: Series 1. - C:23/8/1 (A94-56) This Series contains records of the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center Cancer Commission, (1982-1989). Included in this Series are meeting minutes, newspaper clippings, financial reports, Cancer Commission By-laws, grievance procedures, and departmental activity reports. (1 c.f., 000230) Series 2. - C:23/8/2 (A94-56) This Series contains records of the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center Marketing and Public Relations Office, (ca. 1983-1990). Included in this Series are copies of the Cancer Center newsletter Proceedings, (ca. 1983-1988), staff articles written for other publications, symposium and conference files, Tumor Board quarterly reports, and black-and-white prints and negatives of photographs used in Marketing and Public Relations Office publications. Series 4. - C:23/8/6 (A20-12) This Series contains administrative and other records created by the Ellis Fischel State Cancer Hospital and the Cancer Research Center, (1946, 1962-1986). The records consist of professional staff meeting minutes, (1970-1978), policies and procedures, newsletters and other printed and duplicated material including annual reports, library accession registers, and a copy of the 1946 dissertation by Virnelle Craig Doyle on the history of Ellis Fischel State Cancer Hospital. C:23/8/7 (A22-25) This Series contains architectural plans and drawing pertaining to the Ellis Fischel State Cancer Hospital and the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, (1938-2001). Plans and drawings include floor plans, site plans, elevations, electrical plans, mechanical plans, drainage, and building additions and alterations. Some plans pertain to other buildings on the Hospital grounds such as the A.P. Green Building and the Allton Building. (58 Rolls: TU) Note to Researcher: The plans that make up Series 5 are not comprehensive for the life of the Center. Since the building was not part of the University when Ellis Fischel State Cancer Hospital was originally constructed, many of the early plans are not part of this Series. Series 6. - C:23/8/8 (A22-38) This Series contains administrative and other records created and received by the Ellis Fischel Cancer Center, (ca. 1937-2004). The records consist of the following types and topics: correspondence, memoranda, reports, fiscal and budget records, photographs and negatives, posters, forms, questionnaires, contracts, equipment, radium, and personnel. Restrictions Note: The Archives of the University of Missouri-Columbia is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files.
