Scope and Content Note
This Sub-Group contains records of the University of Missouri President's Office. Included are correspondence, reports, meeting minutes, budget materials, audio tapes, motion picture film, photographs, news releases, biographical sketches, speech texts, guest lists, brochures, press kits, invitations, and luncheon and dinner menus created or received by UM System President, John C. Weaver.
Series Descriptions:
Series 1. - UW:4/2/1 (A70-3)
This Series contains materials pertaining to the inauguration of University of Missouri President John C. Weaver (1967). Included are correspondence, mailing lists, luncheon tickets, dinner invitations, newspaper clippings (citing President Weaver's inaugural speech), meeting minutes of the Presidential Inaugural Committee, and inaugural greetings from alumni, student associations, and faculty. Also included in this Series are inaugural brochures, press kits, copies of the address given by Missouri Governor Warren E. Hearnes, copies of President Weaver's inaugural speech, color photographs of the inaugural ceremony, a 16mm film of the inaugural proceedings, and an audio tape recording of Mr. Koeppler's speech at the inaugural dinner.

Series 2. - UW:4/2/2
This Series contains a copy of a report submitted by University of Missouri-Rolla Chancellor, Merl Baker, to University of Missouri President, John C. Weaver (1967). The subject of this report is the unsuccessful 1948-1949 effort by the University of Missouri-Rolla to become an institution separate from the University of Missouri.

Series 3. - UW:4/2/3 (A77-5; A81-60; A97-85)
This Series holds correspondence and related records created or received by University of Missouri President, John C. Weaver (1964-1973 and 1986-1991). In addition to President Weaver's administrative correspondence, this Series includes reports, meeting minutes, budget materials, applications for the office of Vice President for Academic Affairs, President Weaver's personal notes, public statements by Weaver concerning student unrest on campus, and his responses to University of Missouri Board of Curators resolutions on campus demonstrations. Among the correspondence in this Series are letters from and to former University of Missouri Presidents Elmer Ellis and Frederick Middlebush.

This Series contains materials pertaining to the resignation of University of Missouri President, John C. Weaver (1970). Included are copies of news stories concerning President Weaver's resignation and an audio tape recording of a statement issued by the University of Wisconsin Board of Regents, announcing John C. Weaver's election as President of the University of Wisconsin.

This Series contains materials pertaining, primarily, to two events, the inauguration and the resignation of University of Missouri President, John C. Weaver (1967-1970). Included are correspondence, memos, news releases, speech texts, and biographical sketches of President Weaver and of his wife, Ruberta Harwell Weaver. Also included is an audio tape recording of President Weaver's resignation statement and subsequent press conference.

This Series contains correspondence, guest lists, invitations, and luncheon and dinner menus created for receptions and other entertainment's hosted by University of Missouri President John C. Weaver (1967-1970). The materials in this Series pertain to such events as inter-campus student parties, football luncheons, University of Missouri Medical Center conferences, award ceremonies honoring UM-System administrators, Board of Curators dinner meetings, St. Louis Symphony rehearsals, Esterhazy String Quartet Concerts, and meetings of the Columbia Audubon Society and the Missouri State Council on the Arts.

Series 8. - UW:4/2/8 (A80-29)
This Series contains one enlargement of a photograph by University of Missouri President, John C. Weaver (no date). The photograph is 15 inches by 19 inches, is mounted, and is entitled " No. 89 Roseate Spoonbill."

Note to Researcher: A number of other photographs by UM-System President Weaver are on display at University Hall, on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus.
Restrictions Note: The Archives of the University of Missouri-Columbia is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files. Consultations with legal counsel, both in-house and external, are protected by the attorney/client privilege and will not be released.
