Record Group: 1 UW Record Sub-Group: 6 Records Title: UM System; Board of Curators; Printed and Duplicated Materials Dates: 1870-1965 Volume: 2/3 cubic foot, 0.83 linear foot Scope and Content Note This Sub-Group contains printed and duplicated materials generated by or in conjunction with the University of Missouri Board of Curators. Included are examples of diplomas awarded by the University of Missouri, blueprints for proposed University structures, a copy of the 1938 booklet Miscellaneous Rules and Regulations, copies of Academic Tenure Regulations for 1950, 1972 and 1980, and four examples of the MU seal, as well as an essay describing the Seal's history. Series Descriptions: Series 1. - UW:1/00/1 (A75-33) This Series contains examples of original diplomas awarded to graduates of the University of Missouri. The dates of these authentic diplomas range from the 1870s to the early 1900s. (OSF, MC) Series 2. - UW:1/00/3 (A75-33) This Series holds blueprints created for the University of Missouri's Board of Curators, depicted planned but never constructed buildings (1965). These blueprints were for the University Systems Building, which was to be constructed in McAlester Park, and the planned (but never built) University Club Building. Series 3. - UW:1/00/5 (A75-33) This Series contains four color copies of the current University of Missouri Seal (ca. 1904). On one of the four examples is a hand-written note which reads, "Designed by John S. Ankeney, while in Paris, 1904. Dr. W. B. Brown Chair, Dr. Raymond Weeks, John S. Ankeney, Committee on University Seal, appointed by the Board of Curators." Also included is one copy of an essay, by MU President James C. Olson, entitled, "About the University of Missouri Symbol" (ca 1980). Series 4. - UW:1/00/6 This Series holds printed and duplicated materials generated by the University of Missouri Board of Curators. Included are 1938 and 1941 copies of a Board of Curators' publication entitled, Miscellaneous Rules and Regulations. These typed and bound volumes consist of compilations of rules adopted by the Board of Curators for governing conduct of the general affairs of the University. Several sections from the Revised Statutes of Missouri and from the State Constitution pertaining to the University are included. The by-laws of the Board of Curators and of the University Faculty are not included as part of these publications. Also included in this series are copies of Academic Tenure Regulations, (1950, 1972, 1980, 1988), and Academic Grievance Procedures approved 5/25/1979 and amended 3/20/1981. The Series also includes copies of the University of Missouri System Collected Rules and Regulations, (ca. 1985, ca. 1986, ca. 2001, ca. 2002, 2003).
