Scope and Content Note
This Sub-Group contains cadet information cards as well as scholarship and awards information created and received by the University of Missouri-Columbia Reserve Officer Training Corps Administrative Office or the Military Science Departments. Also include in the Sub-Group are copy negatives.
Series Descriptions:
Series 1. - C:29/1/1 (A76-4)
This Series holds cadet information cards [RESTRICTED] produced by the University of Missouri-Columbia, Reserve Officer Training Corps Administrative Office, (1868-1974). The format of these 3" x 5" file cards changes somewhat over the decades; however, nearly all include such basic information as the cadet's name, academic year, student number, college or academic division, ROTC training and classes taken, credit hours carried, and grade point average.

Series 2. - C:29/1/2 (A22-18; A24-46)
This Series contains records created or received by the Military Science and Leadership Department, (ca. 1880s-1900). The records consist of two 7x5 inch acetate safety film copy negatives taped for printing. One depicts the cadet artillery drill on the Quadrangle in front of the Columns, the image first appearing in the 1900 Savitar; the second depicts a group of the Ladies' Department Drill Company along with Enoch Crowder (?) on the steps of Academic Hall (?), circa 1885-1886. Also included in Series 2 is a mounted photograph of cadets along with the military band in formation on the Quadrangle with Academic Hall (later Jesse Hall) and the Mechanic Arts Building (later Engineering Building) in the background.

Note to Researcher: The original photograph of the Drill Company, along with other papers pertaining to Enoch Crowder, can be found in Collection C1046 at the State Historical Society of Missouri.
Note to Archivist: The mounted photograph of the cadet battalion in close order and the military band on the Quadrangle was sent to the Military Science Department in 2024 by the grandson of Thomas Ripley Bruce, Senior, a cadet infantry private in Company C. A cropped version of the photograph appeared on an unnumbered page between pages 74 and 80 in the 1900 Savitar yearbook.
Series 3. - C:29/1/3 (A24-34)
This Series contains cadet scholarship and award information from the Military Science and Leadership Department, (2017-2022). The records consist for the most part of thank-you letters from recipients of a number of the Department's scholarships and awards, including the Logan Gilbert Scholarship, the Colonel Hilton Excellence Award, the Frank Quattrocchi Scholarship Award, the Wil Edens Superior Performance Award, the Colonel Harold Osborn Davis Endowed ROTC Scholarship, the Lieutenant Colonel Karl Teepe Memorial Award, the Colonel John Holsonback Award, the Tyler Romaker Memorial Endowment, the Wilkins Opportunity for Excellence Endowment Award, the Perkins Allison Scholarship, and Military Science Department gift funds.

Restrictions Note: The Archives of the University of Missouri-Columbia is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files. Consultations with legal counsel, both in-house and external, are protected by the attorney/client privilege and will not be released.
