Scope and Content Note
This Record Sub-Group contains administrative records, memorabilia and published works pertaining to Francis Quadrangle, its centennial celebration and its namesake, Governor David Francis. Francis Quadrangle was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. The Sub-Group also contains a biography of David Francis.
Series Descriptions:
Series 1. - C:0/22/1 (A77-45; A05-44)
This Series contains a copy of the application to include the Francis Quadrangle in the U.S. Department of Interior National Park Service's Register of Historic Places (1959-1977). The records consist of reports, correspondence, forms, and a blueprint. The materials describe such characteristics as the location of the Quadrangle (physical relationship to city streets and other University buildings, topographical boundaries, and acreage), the classification (ownership status and present use), a detailed description of the surrounding buildings, giving their structural conditions, architectural styles and characteristics, construction dates, and contemporary maintenance projects. Also included in this Series is information on the site's historical significance, and a brief biography of the Quadrangle's architect (Morris Frederick Bell). Supplementing the written materials are two maps as well as photographs of views of the Quadrangle. Also included in the Series is the certificate from the Missouri State Park Board recognizing the quadrangle as "officially listed on the National Register of Historic Places," (1973)

This Series contains items commemorating the Francis Quadrangle Centennial (1995). Included in the Series is a poster of an aerial view of Jesse Hall and Francis Quadrangle, as well as a medallion, lapel pins and stickers.

This Series contains a copy of Standing on a Volcano, The Life and Times of David Roland Francis. This is a biography of David Roland Francis for whom Francis Quadrangle is named. This copy was donated by the author, Harper Barnes, (2001).
