Scope and Content Note
This Record Sub-Group contains documents and files pertaining to some of the Committees, Councils, and Boards which function within the University Missouri-Columbia Community.
Note to Researcher: In 08/2002 Record Sub-Groups C:0/19 (University General; Committees) and C:2/8 (University Faculty; Faculty Committees) were officially closed, and Record Group 24, Committees, was created to properly classify and organize interdisciplinary committee records. See Record Group 24 Summaries for other committee records.
Note to Archivist: See Policy #30, Committee Records, in the Policy and Procedures Manual for instructions on the classification of committee records.

UMC; Committees; Special Committees; National Defense Committees
This Series has been enlarged to a full inventory. Please follow this link to reach the inventory. This Series contains documents relating to UMC's Committee on Civilian Defense and the Committee on University and National Defense as well as establishment of other committees (student and faculty) concerned with the World War II national defense effort, (1940-1942).
Note to Archivist: Collection number was changed from C:0/19/1 to C:24/4/1 in 12/2002.

Series Two contains chronologically arranged lists of University of Missouri-Columbia committees and standing committees, as well as lists of committee members appointed by the MU President, starting with academic year 1945-1946. This Series contains animal facilities and animal care evaluation reports compiled by the University of Missouri-Columbia Animal Resources Advisory Committee, which is appointed annually by the President of The University, (1973-1981)

Series Four contains the working files of the Chairman of the Sub-Committee of the Lectures and Cultural Events Committee known as the University Assembly Lectures Sub-Committee. Included in this Series are materials concerning applications for funding by the Sub-Committee, lecturer and presenter biographical information, posters, news releases, Sub-Committee correspondence, Sub-Committee meeting minutes, financial records, annual reports of activities, and information concerning events funded as well as those denied funding, (1981-1987).

Included in Series Five are the meeting minutes of the University of Missouri-Columbia Staff Advisory Council, (1982-1986).

Series 6. - C:0/19/6
Series Six contains a booklet which describes establishment of the UMC Staff Advisory Council and contains a Council membership list and general information about the University, (1932-1934). Included in the Series are files on student enrollment, faculty, functions of the university, and information about eleven UMC schools and colleges (such as dates of establishment, name changes, and brief histories), and an essay entitled, "The University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri, Where Education is Supreme."

Series 7. - C:0/29/1 (May 1975)
This Series contains records relating to the initial fund-raising and construction of the University of Missouri-Columbia Memorial Union. Included in this Series are ledger books, pledge stubs, and personal checks given as donations toward the construction of a Memorial Student Union and Tower. Also included in the Series are documents regarding expenditures from the fund established (in memory of UMC student soldiers who died during World War I) to build a football stadium and student union. Additionally, meeting minutes of the "Committee of Nine" of the University of Missouri Memorial Union Building Fund are included.

This Series contains material gathered by Professor Kitty Dickerson, Chairwoman of the University of Missouri-Columbia Faculty Council Committee on the Status of Women. Included in this Series are meeting minutes, correspondence, news articles, and salary data pertaining to the committee's work, (1984, 1986-1989).

This Series holds meeting minutes, committee agendas, and general working files of the Chancellor's Committee on the Status of Women. These Records pertain to the Committee's work during the years 1973 through 1992.

Series 13. - C:0/19/7 (A01-52)
This Series holds records collected by the University of Missouri-Columbia Advisor's Forum, an independent campus-wide committee of academic advisors, (1990-1999). The Series contains meeting minutes and related records, rosters, a mission statement, and bylaws. The Committee was initiated in 1986 to share advising information across colleges within the University of Missouri-Columbia and, additionally, sponsors events and programs, including the Summer Welcome.

Series Fourteen contains files of the committee chairperson pertaining to the membership and work of University Minority Affairs Committee during the years 1984-1993. The Series contains meeting minutes, meeting agendas, membership lists, reports, correspondence and supporting documentation to the work of the Committee.

This Series contains records assembled by Bonnie Zelenak, Director of the Learning Center and Chair of the Student Access and Retention Sub-Committee of the Academic Future Committee and Institutional Future Committee. Included in this Series are meeting announcements, correspondence, memoranda, reports, and supporting documentation relating to the work and discussions of the Committee, 1979.
