Ardath H. Emmons was the director of the Research Reactor 1960-1970 at the University of Missouri. He began his professional career as a Junior Chemist, Health Physics Division, at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (1949-1951); was an Associate Radiological Safety Officer at University of Michigan (1951-1955); and was Supervisor at Ford Nuclear Reactor and Phoenix Memorial Lab, University of Michigan (1955-1960). Emmons assisted in the design of the Phoenix Lab and Ford Nuclear Reactor as well as the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR). He also taught courses in health physics, radiological health, and nuclear engineering.
