Scope and Content Note

This Sub-Group contains records of the University of Missouri President's Office relating to the Office of Finance and Administration. This office was created in 1977 to replace the existing office of the Vice President for Finance and Treasurer. Until 1998, this office was known as the office of the Vice President for Administrative Affairs and, for a short time in 1997, the Office of the Executive Vice President of Administrative Affairs. Included are correspondence, reports, feasibility studies, photographs, project records, budget materials, appropriations materials, organizational charts, committee minutes, executive orders and guidelines, personnel files, UM-System Research Park records, and Board of Curators meeting materials.

Series Descriptions:

Series 1. - UW:4/30/2 (A82-32; A83-74; A83-116; A87-51)
This Series contains records of the University of Missouri Office of Vice President for Administrative Affairs, (1930-1987). The bulk of these records were created or received during the tenure of Vice President for Administrative Affairs, James R. Buchholz, from 1977 to 1985. Included in this Series are correspondence, a 1930 survey of "University Administrative Offices" (concerning the "Estimated Impact of a College or University on Local Economy"), photographs (including some of storm damage to Memorial Union Tower), Board of Curators meeting minutes, Board of Curators Finance Committee meeting minutes, affirmative action records, manuscript histories of the Memorial Union and the Columbia Missourian, budget materials, and executive orders and guidelines. Topics include the Medical Center service and research plan, the UM-System retirement plan, UM-System disability and death plan, cultural events costs, bequests and gifts to the University, the Missouri Publishers' Association, physical plant operations, security, facilities development, and the feasibility of creating a research park on the University's Weldon Spring property.

Series 2. - UW:4/30/3 (A89-43; A89-65)
This Series contains records of the University of Missouri Office of Vice President for Administrative Affairs relating to the work of the University of Missouri Retirement and Staff Benefits Committee, (1911-1987). Included in this Series are correspondence, committee meeting minutes, experience studies, analysis materials, a long term disability program actuarial analysis report, a self-insurance trust fund actuarial review, a report on early termination incentives, Carnegie Foundation Endowment recipients records, and retirement, disability, and death benefit actuarial valuations. Also included is a copy of the "UM Retirement, Disability, and Death Benefit Program: A Personal History of Its Development," by Raymond E. Peck.

Also included in this Series are TENET records consisting of background information, correspondence and memoranda, presentation materials, financial impact statements, and copies of the proposed Management Agreement. TENET is a private health care administrator.
