This Record Sub-Group contains real estate and land records of the University of Missouri Office of Business Services. Included in this Sub-Group are bound registers of lands granted to the University. Information in the registers includes hand drawn topographical description and township maps (showing waterways, streams, and railroads), lands sold, deed and lease numbers, valuation of land per acre and total sale price, payments made on purchase or lease of lands, names of purchasers or lease holders, remarks on lands, cancellations, and deeds given.
Note to Researcher: Bound into back of Register #1 is a copy of the "Geological Sketch of the State of Missouri Illustrated By Maps," by George C. Swallow (ca. 1873). For more information relating to University of Missouri real property holdings and interests, see Record Group 4 UW, Sub-Group 53.

Register #1. "Register Missouri Agricultural College Lands" (on spine). Index to county arrangement in front and note ",Beginning in January, 1918, this plat book was checked with the certified lists of lands selected. The O.K. - date E.C.P. List - indicates that the plats check with said lists..." Information includes topographical description of land, i.e., surface, soil type, surface water, timber, township maps (hand drawn) showing waterways, streams and lakes, railroads, cities and towns, some landmarks, i.e., Wrights Mill in Howell Co., swamps, etc., lands sold and deed numbers, as well as valuation of land per acre. 145pp. 19 1/2 x 16 1/2 x 2 1/2", clothbound (ca. l871-1918). Information includes deed numbers, land descriptions, sections, townships, ranges, number of acres and price per acre, total sale price (occasional in later entries), name of purchaser and intended usage (i.e., highway right of way), and partial acreage sales. 319pp. (pp.209-319 blank) 18 x 12 x 3", leather-bound, spine missing.
