Scope and Content Note
This Sub-Group contains records of the University of Missouri President's subordinate Office of Business Services. Included in this Sub-Group are correspondence, salary and wage implementation guidelines, contracts, computer printout lists, salary matrix and title code records, budget report forms, budget report form completion instructions, copies of the "Collected Rules and Regulations of the Board of Curators," financial reports from UM-System departments, operating budgets and projections, staff detail budget worksheets, property maps, photographs, news clippings, histories of acquisition and use of the Weldon Spring property, operations reports, annual reports to HEW, and a Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum (HOK) consultant's report on Weldon Spring entitled, "Investigation and Evaluation of Development and Marketing Potentials: Preliminary Programs and Planning." Also included in the Sub-Group are property appraisals, travel agency contracts, ticket audits, policies and procedures for use of UM-System credit cards, environmental impact assessments, records of proposed sale of the UM-System Weldon Spring property to the Missouri Department of Conservation, records pertaining to the use of Lost Valley for scouting purposes, and records concerning renovation of the President's residence at Providence Point.
Series Descriptions:
Series 1. - UW:4/44/3 (A86-62)
This Series contains records of the Office of Business Services, (1971-1979). The majority of records in this Series were created or received by Jim Bunton, UM-System Office of Business Services' Manager for Auxiliary Enterprises. Included in this Series are correspondence, salary and wage implementation guidelines, computer printout lists, salary matrix and title code records, budget report forms, budget report form completion instructions, operating budgets and instructions, and financial reports from UM-System departments.

Series 2. - UW:4/44/4 (A87-72)
This Series contains records of the Office of Business Services, (1967-1978). Included in this Series are records pertaining to the UM-System's Weldon Spring property. Among these records are correspondence, maps, photographs, property appraisals, news clippings, histories of acquisition and use of the UM-System's Weldon Spring properties, operations reports, annual reports to the U.S. Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, and a Hellmuth, Obata and Kassabaum (HOK) report entitled, "Investigation and Evaluation of Development and Marketing Potentials: Preliminary Programs and Planning." Also included in the Series are environmental impact assessments, records of the proposed sale of the Weldon Spring property to the Missouri Department of Conservation, records pertaining to the use of Lost Valley for scouting purposes, and records of Weldon Spring timber sale controversy.

Series 3. - UW:4/44/7 (A91-118)
This Series contains records of the Office of Business Services, (1984-1989). The records in this Series were created or received by Assistant Vice President for Business Services, Tom Hussey, and his assistant, Mary Hamilton Sapp. These records pertain to the renovation of the President's residence at Providence Point. Included in this Series are correspondence (much exchanged with UM-System President, Peter Magrath), and status reports on Hinkson Creek Recreation Area construction, Rollins Springs construction, Providence Point landscaping work, and work on a deck and pool for the President's Residence. Also included are an informational pamphlet entitled The University Reception House and President's Home, and a booklet entitled Addition and Renovation of the University House and President's Residence, by McCoy, Hutchinson, and Stone, Architects (1984).

Series 4. - UW:4/44/8 (A96-51; various)
This Series contains records of the Office of Business Services, (1985-1987, 1993, 1995, 1997). Most of the records in this Series were created or received by UM-System Office of Business Services Coordinator of Management, Support, and Analysis, Charles Cottingham. Included in this Series are travel management documents and Diners Club Corporate Card Program records. Materials comprising this Series are Topaz Enterprises, Inc. (Travel Management Consulting group) records - particularly an Airfare Audit, (02-03/1986), various correspondence concerning the Airfare Audit, travel agency contract records, fare comparisons, and rebate records, (1985-1987). This Series also contains IVI Travel, Inc. and Citicorp Diners Club, Inc. correspondence concerning the UM's Diners Club Corporate Card Program, (1985-1987), as well as Diners Club Corporate Card Travel Policies and Procedures manuals/booklets, pertaining to the use of the credit cards for business travel, (1993, 1995, 1997).

This Series contains records created or received by the Office of Business Services within the Division of Management Services, (1990-1994). The records in this Series consist of schematics and proposals relating to the purchase or lease of University of Missouri property, including the following buildings: Treadway Hall, (Critical Care Addition, 1994), Ellis Fischel, (1991), University of Missouri-Columbia Gentry Hall, (1991), University of Missouri-Rolla Recreation and Wellness Center, (1991), UMR Electrical Engineering Building, UMR Curtis Laws Wilson Library, UMC School of Journalism, (1990), and the Research Reactor, (1991)

This Series contains records created or received by the Office of the Vice-President for Administrative Services, (1987-1994). This Series includes correspondence of Assistant Vice-President Dennis Cesari, (1990-1994). Also included in the Series are documents concerning the Americans with Disability Act (ADA).

Series 7. - UW:4/44/9 (A92-58; A94-79; A95-126; A96-103; A97-97; A00-148; A01-149)
This Series contains records of the Office of Business Services, (1982--). Comprising this Series are annual reports entitled, UM Real Property Holdings and Interests. These reports contain summaries of UM-System land holdings and interests as well as indices listing properties by location, deed number, parties to the grant or sale, date of acquisition, cost, and acreage. These reports also include information concerning University Development Foundation real estate properties.

Note to Archivist: Collection number was changed from UW:4/31/14 to UW:4/44/9 in 10/2001. The Office of Business Services was established in 08/1990 within the Department of Management Services. Due to regular accumulation of the reports, new additions are no longer being assigned an accession number. Instead, the date received is noted on the Kardex.
Series 8. - UW:4/44/11 (A05-08)
This Series contains records created and received by the Office of Business Services, (1986-1996). The records consist of contracts, correspondence, and memoranda regarding products or services received by various campus facilities. Some of the contracts in this Series pertain to concessions services on the Columbia Campus, laboratory systems at the University Hospital and Clinics, and travel services.

Restrictions Note: The Archives of the University of Missouri-Columbia is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files.
