Scope and Content Note
This Sub-Group holds records of the UMC College of Engineering's Department of Civil Engineering. Included in this Sub-Group are correspondence files, working papers, course materials, graduate student project reports, terminated faculty files, faculty papers, and meeting minutes of the Civil Engineering Society. The Sub-Group also contains various printed and duplicated materials such as academic program brochures and newsletters related to the department.
Series Descriptions:
Series 1. - C:9/8/1
This Series holds correspondence, working papers, notes, and course outlines regarding the construction course program offered by the Department of Civil Engineering (1963-1972). Also included in this Series are graduate student project reports, speakers' vitae, copies of programs, and rosters of participants relating to the planning and operation of a biennial construction conference at UMC. Also included in the Series are page proofs, graphs, and diagrams used by Professors Harry Rubey and Walker Milner in developing their textbook entitled Construction and Professional Management (1966).

Series 2. - C:9/8/3 (A90-118)
This Series contains one volume of the meeting minutes of the UMC Civil Engineering Society. The Society was organized in October of 1913. The minutes included in this volume continue through September of 1921.

Series 3. - C:9/8/2
This Series contains materials related to Engineering Materials Testing, a laboratory manual prepared by Professor of Civil Engineering, Harrison D. Comins. Included are a typewritten manuscript, with photo prints, drawings, charts, and corrections, as well as a copy of the finished work, which was published by Lucas Brothers in Columbia, Missouri in 1967.

This Series contains miscellaneous printed and duplicated materials produced by the Department of Civil Engineering. Among the formats, topics, and titles in this Series are the following: academic program brochures; short-course information; event invitations and programs; conference and workshop brochures; faculty reports; and newsletters, including Interchange and CE Advance. The Series also includes various Plumbing Research Project publications.

This Series contains records of the Department of Civil Engineering in the College of Engineering at the University of Missouri, (1957-2003). The records in the Series are terminated faculty files [RESTRICTED] and include correspondence, memoranda, personnel forms, promotion and tenure material, and evaluations.

Restrictions Note: The Archives of the University of Missouri-Columbia is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files. Consultations with legal counsel, both in-house and external, are protected by the attorney/client privilege and will not be released.
