Scope and Content Note

(A97-101)
This Record Sub-Group contains photograph negatives (along with a few prints) of productions by the University of Missouri Department of Theatre. These negatives range in size from 2"x2" up to 8"x10" and include images of backdrops, scenery, stage settings, production casts, and action on stage during rehearsals and performances. Also included in the Sub-Group are photographs of productions of the Department's "Starlight Theatre" (on the roof of Hill Hall) and of television productions.
Note to Researcher: Most of these photographs were taken while the UMC Department of Theatre was under the directorship of Donovan Rhynsburger. Prints made from many of these negatives can be found in Record Group 6 C, Sub-Group 32, Series 4. Additionally, digitized reproductions of many of the photographs in Series 2 (listed below) can be viewed as part of the UMC Archives photographic display entitled Dramatic Images.

Series Descriptions:

This Sub-Group is divided into two record series. Arrangement within each series is alphabetical, by play title. Series One contains 163 envelopes, each containing one or more negatives and prints pertaining to a given production.

Series Two contains 31 envelopes, 30 of which contain hard copy printouts pertaining to a given production. The negatives in Series Two were on nitrate film, an unstable medium that is unacceptable for patron use. All have been transferred to a digital format and are available for viewing, in that form and as hard copy printouts.
