This Sub-Group contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia Office of Business Services. Included in this Sub-Group are correspondence, reports to the Board of Curators, preliminary construction plans, specifications, area analysis, cost estimates, aerial photographs, blueprints, architectural drawings, progress schedules, construction progress reports, building studies, building cross sections, mechanical and electrical diagrams, furniture designs, fixture designs, facilities removal specifications, bid tabulations, financial operating statements, planning reports, site maps, revenue bond reports, construction loan applications, contract awards, committee materials, memoranda, statistical data, student loan files, biographical sketches, and State of Missouri Crippled Children Service records.

UMC; Administration; Business Services; Construction Records and Photographs
This Series has been enlarged to a full inventory. Please follow this link to reach the inventory. This series contains correspondence, preliminary reports to the Board of Curators, preliminary construction plans, specifications, area analysis, cost estimates, aerial photographs (including temporary student housing, ca. 1946-1950), reports relating to electrical systems, storm sewers, and water treatment facilities, and reports relating to remodeling and construction of building additions (1919-1976).
Series 2 - C:1/81/2 (A78-9; A80-47; A81-45)
This Series contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia Office of Business Services (1897-1973). Included in this Series are blueprints, architectural sketches, progress schedules and progress reports, building studies, building cross sections, mechanical and electrical diagrams, furniture designs, and fixture designs relating to proposed and constructed buildings. Also included in the Series are the plans for registration 1938-1941.

Series 3 - C:1/81/3 (A81-33; A81-45; A81-106)
This Series contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia Office of Business Services (1892-1958). Included in this Series are narrative specifications relating to the construction and repair of UMC campus buildings. Buildings include Jesse Hall, Read Hall, Ellis Library, the North Gateway, Memorial Tower, Memorial Stadium, various College of Agriculture buildings, and various student residence halls. Also included in this Series are facilities removal specifications for a number of private residences purchased by the University.

This Series contains material from the office files of the University of Missouri-Columbia Office of Business Services. Included in this Series is a 17" by 23" drawing of the Kuhlman Court (11/27/1922). This drawing was copied from the original on page nine of Plat Book number three.

Series 5 - C:1/81/4
This Series contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia Office of Business Services relating to work of the Traffic and Parking Committee (1963-1971). Included in this Series are meeting agenda and meeting minutes, correspondence, memoranda, blueprints, sub-committee reports, copies of Board of Curators policies on parking, draft proposals, proposals for new parking regulations, questionnaires, appeals of parking tickets, and complaints. Also included in this Series are financial data concerning parking lot operation and funding of multi-level parking structures and information on use of mace by University Police.

This Series contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia Office of Business Services. Included in this Series are student loan record files used by University of Missouri-Columbia Vice President for Business Affairs, Leslie Cowan (1930-1959). Also included in this Series are correspondence, memoranda, reports, statistical data, and vouchers. Subjects include office procedures, student loan programs, work-study programs, and funding availability. Also included in this Series is a biographical sketch of Leslie Cowan.

Series 7 - C:1/81/7 (A87-21)
This Series contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia Office of Business Services pertaining to the State of Missouri Crippled Children's Service (1935-1950). Included in this Series are correspondence, quarterly reports of expenditures, annual reports of expenditures, summaries of budgets, professional fee schedules and summaries, and examples of forms used by the Crippled Children's Service. Also included in the Series is a document entitled, "Historical Summary of Crippled Children's Services."

Note to Researcher: In 1927, the MU Board of Curators was designated as the state agency to receive and expend state and federal funds for the care of "crippled" children under fifteen whose need had been certified by county courts.
Series 8 - C:1/81/8 (A87-22)
This Series contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia Office of Business Services relating to the United States Housing and Home Finance Agency (1955-1972). Included in this Series are correspondence, loan applications, contract awards, meeting minutes, bid tabulations, maps of construction sites, revenue bond reports, and blueprints and architect drawings of planned dormitories and student unions. Information on loan applications includes land costs, number of buildings to be constructed, type of construction, floor and site area, facilities to be in the buildings planned, desired start and completion dates for construction, and reason the facilities were needed.

This Series contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia Office of Business Services pertaining to the Office of Printing and Records Management (1941-1989). Included in this Series are directors' correspondence, memoranda, correspondence with the MU System Administration, correspondence with the MU administration, and unit managers' correspondence.

Series 10. - C:1/81/10 (A05-31)
This Series contains records of the Office of Business Services, (ca. 1885). The records consist of architectural plans and drawings for proposed and built additions to Academic Hall. Included among the plans are designs for east and west wing additions as well as an auditorium to the south. The majority of the plans are from the architectural studio of H. W. Kirchner and M. F. Bell and they reflect the design followed for the 1885 wing additions to the building. Drawings in this Series include plans, elevations, sections and an artist rendering.

Note to Archivist: These 35 plans were transferred to University Archives from the University of Missouri Museum of Art and Archaeology in 2005. They had been received by the Museum from the University Business Office in 1987. Also available are 4x5 photographic negatives and prints made from the drawings by the Museum for its accession file.
Series 11. - C:1/81/11
This Series contains printed and duplicated material pertaining to the University of Missouri's Office of Business Services and its reporting units, (ca. 1983-2011), including the Cashier's Office, the Licensing and Trademark Office, Parking and Transportation Services, and Procurement/Materials Management. Some of the topics addressed in the printed and duplicated material are travel policies, employee handbooks, long distance network, campus mail service, financial aid, direct deposit, billing, Mizzou-Rah retailers, and traffic and parking regulations.

Restrictions Note: The Archives of the University of Missouri-Columbia is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files. Consultations with legal counsel, both in-house and external, are protected by the attorney/client privilege and will not be released.
