Scope and Content Note

This Sub-Group contains administrative records created by or for the Office of Economic Development of the University of Missouri System President's Office. It contains documents such as correspondence, contracts, reports, surveys, and blueprints, detailing various Economic Park Development projects, including the University Park in Kansas City, Fort Leonard Wood, and the leasing of University property. Also included in the Sub-Group are Executive Director records, including correspondence, memoranda, and Columbia Chamber of Commerce Board meeting materials.

Series Descriptions:

Series 1. - UW:4/35/NP (A00-106)
This Series contains administrative records created by or for the Office of Economic Development of the University of Missouri System President's Office, including documents detailing various Economic Park Development projects and the leasing of University property. The bulk of the documents in the Series relate to the University Park in Kansas City. Project files are administrative in nature and may contain: background information; contracts and sales agreements; memoranda, mostly general, some issue; correspondence, both legal and general; reports, proposals, studies, condemnations, capital requests, appraisals, maps, and master plans. Topics included in the files relate to: the St. Louis Aqua Center; Science Park; the Kauffman Foundation; the National Center for Manufacturing Science; ARCO Construction; Meridian Technologies; and the proposed developments in both Kansas City and St. Louis. Additionally, this Series contains documents relating to the Development of the Waste Treatment Plant, a study of waste water treatment, pedestrian and access easement, the sewer project, and some documents relating to the Development at Weldon Springs.

Series 2. - UW:4/35/1 (A03-117)
This Series contains records of the Office of Economic Development, (1985-1988). The records consist of general correspondence, memoranda, and meeting materials sent and received by Duane Stucky, Executive Director of the Office of Economic Development, (1987-1988). Topics of the records pertain to the Boone Hospital Center. Also included in the Series are general correspondence and committee and task force materials regarding the Columbia Chamber of Commerce and its Board, of which Stucky was a member, (1985-1988).

This Series contains records created or received by the Office of Economic Development, (1991-2005). The records consist of general correspondence, budget files, security logs, day planners, construction records, reports, contracts, and blueprints for the St. Louis Research Park. The various business ventures addressed in the records include: AT&T; AG Edwards; Boeing; Novus International; Puritan Bennett; Zoltek; Pohlman Inc.; Centeral Rolled Tread Die, Co.; Golf Course development; and Conference Center development. Blueprints in this Series pertain to the Bluffs Maintenance Building, McLeod USA, the proposed Greenway, (1997), Honka Log Homes, Consultant Lubricants, Westar, and Ductbank.

Some of the business ventures and topics addressed by the records in the Series are: St. Louis Technology Center; St. Charles Rivers and Streams Project; Monsanto Queeney Building; Clayco; Hilco; Honka; Synergy Group; multi-tenant building; protective covenants; appraisals; and the Washington University Technopolis Planning Committee.
