This Sub-Group contains records of the University of Missouri System's Office of Property and Risk Management. Included in this Sub-Group are documents regarding lands belonging to the UM-System, such as a Township Plat Book (ca. l890), University of Missouri land deeds #1 through #816 (with the exception of deeds #530-#533 which are not included), a summary of an investigation involving Agricultural College land and official abstracts of land (1935), reports of reconnaissance surveys of agricultural lands by Lester Cowan (1958), records of estate trusts and payments from estates, appraisals of properties not bought, and annual recapitulations of land purchased and sold (1962-1970). Also included in this Sub-Group are quit claim deeds, lists of property sold or otherwise disposed of, legal documents regarding court cases, Wills and Trust Agreements through which the University received land or money (for establishing scholarships, fellowships, and educational loans). Other records in this Sub-Group document land sold to the Missouri Conservation Commission (such as the UM-System Weldon Spring property), granting of easements and rights of ways, the Little River Drainage District (1935), and Camp Crowder (at Neosho, Missouri).

Series Descriptions:

This Record Sub-Group is divided into four series. Arrangement within individual series follows chronological order. Series One contains records documenting University ownership of Agricultural College lands, including office correspondence, annual summaries of land purchases, and a Township Plat Book (ca. 1890) which lists all University of Missouri owned land by township and county. Series Two contains wills and trust agreements from which the University of Missouri received land or funding. Included in Series Two are wills setting up scholarships, fellowships, and memorial funds. Individual folders in Series Two may include correspondence, copies of wills and other legal documents, deeds and land abstracts, court documents (regarding contested wills), assessments of properties, and Board of Curators actions and related papers. Series Three contains correspondence and records concerning University of Missouri property sold and otherwise disposed of, such as deeds and land abstracts, rental agreements, records of Board of Curators actions, contracts, property appraisals, trust agreements, and related legal documents. Series Four contains documentation of real estate purchases by the University of Missouri, including correspondence, appraisals, abstracts, contracts, deeds, and photos of properties.
