Note to Researcher: Professor Kantner held a dual appointment in the College of Education's Department of Curriculum and Instruction and in the College of Arts and Science's Department of Art (later the School of Fine Arts). He was appointed Assistant Professor of Art and Education in August of 1971, becoming Associate Professor of Education in 1974 and Associate Professor of Art in 1976. Kantner was appointed Professor of Art and Education in 1985, at which time he was also given the chairmanship of the Art Department, serving in that role until the fall of 1989. Kantner was the Director of Graduate Studies for the College of Education's Department of Curriculum and Instruction from 1984 until 2001. Kantner was distinguished as Professor Emeritus in 2000. He continued teaching after his retirement until 2003.
Series 1 contains records which are confidential and restricted. See the restrictions note at the end of this finding aid.
Note to Archivist: The records in Series 1 were donated by Dr. Larry Kantner in the summer of 2021. Kantner had painstakingly prepared his papers, organizing them into categories in large binders. Care has been taken to retain as much as possible of this organization while placing the material into standard archival folders and boxes. In some instances, however, rearrangement along chronological lines was preferred over the original order.
The box lists for this Series are available online. They can be accessed by
