Scope and Content Note

This Sub-Group holds records of the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Education's Department of Educational Administration. Included in the Sub-Group are correspondence, meeting minutes of educational administration professional organizations and committees, speeches, addresses, newspaper clippings, reports, reviews, and self-studies.

Series Descriptions:

Series 1. - C:8/17/1
This Series holds three manuscript volumes (ca. 1927) of "School Surveys" co-authored by College of Education Professor of Educational Administration, W. W. Carpenter. These surveys were conducted by graduate students and examined three Tennessee school systems in regard to finance, buildings and grounds, equipment, achievement and classification of students, faculty, and curriculum. Dr. Carpenter was on the staff of George Peabody College for Teachers in Nashville at the time of the surveys.

Series 2. - C:8/17/2; C:8/17/NP (A79-33; A87-89; A00-156)
This Series holds administrative records of the College of Education's Department of Educational Administration, gathered during the tenure of Chairman Neil C. Aslin (ca. 1962-1982). Included in this Series are meeting minutes of educational administration-related committees and organizations such as the North Central Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges, the Missouri chapter of the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and the Executive Committee of the Missouri State Teachers Association. Also included in the Series are copies of the annual "Aslin Assembly of Professional Doctorates" newsletters, Department of Educational Administration correspondence, committee reports, Dr. Aslin's speeches and commencement addresses, records of the Neil C. Aslin Memorial Fund, and a file of newspaper clippings related to the Department of Educational Administration.

This Series contains departmental correspondence files, meeting programs, letters of recommendation, and other materials gathered by Professor of Educational Administration, Howard Heding (ca. 1957-1984). Also included in the Series is a volume containing letters of appreciation and a "lecture series manuscripts" relating to Professor Heding's career.

This Series holds correspondence and other records collected by Professor of Educational Administration James E. Holland (ca. 1975-1985). Along with correspondence files, this Series also contains records of the Health and Physical Education Self-Study Review Committee (ca. 1979), subject files of the National University Continuing Education Association, and records of Associate Dean's meetings.
