Scope and Content Note

This Sub-Record Group contains administrative records created and received by the MU College of Education's Department of Special Education. Included in this Sub-Group are correspondence, budget materials, memoranda, regulations, subject files, separated faculty files, meeting minutes, grant records, assessment reports, course syllabi, and departmental reports.

Series Descriptions:

Series 1. - C:8/12/1 (A86-47)
This Series contains office files gathered by College of Education's Department of Special Education Chairman, Richard C. Schofer (1970-1977). Included in this Series are correspondence, budget materials, inter-department memoranda, general subject files, and regulations regarding student apprenticeships and fellowships.

Series 2. - C:8/12/NP (A01-77)
This Series contains administrative records created by the College of Education's Special Education Department (1979-1998). Included in this Series are minutes of the Faculty meetings (1988-1994), audio cassettes of the Faculty meetings (1993-1994), reports and related memoranda, and departmental files of terminated faculty members (1970-1999). Reports and related memoranda in this Series include: the Continuing Professional Education Plan (1991-1992); Objectives, Activities, and Resources for Continuing Education (1987-1992); Accomplishments of the Department of Special Education (n.d.); Activities Reports (1986-1991; 1992-1993); assessment reports (1988-1990, with gaps); a Follow-Up Study of the Graduates of the College of Education for 1985-1986 and 1987-1988; The Principal Survey of Teacher Effectiveness (1989); and a copy of the 1989 Initial Phases of a Longitudinal Research Study on Prospective Teachers Within the University of Missouri-Columbia. The terminated faculty records in the Series may include administrative forms, copies of publications, memoranda, letters of resignation, vitae, and course syllabi.
