Scope and Content Note

This Sub-Group contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia Department of Economics. Included in this Sub-Group are correspondence, memoranda, time sheets, work schedules, account summaries, fiscal reports, budget materials, mailing lists, conference materials, project proposals, contracts and agreements, lists of students receiving graduate degrees, student academic records, applications for assistantships, and letters of recommendation. Also included in this Sub-Group are reports of the Missouri Council of Economic Education and Achievements of the College of Arts and Science and a history of the Economics Department.

Series 1. - C:6/19/1 (A77-43)
This Series contains administrative records of the UMC Department of Economics, (1961-1977). Included in this Series are departmental correspondence, memoranda, time sheets, work schedules, account summaries, fiscal reports, budget materials, mailing lists, conference materials, project proposals, contracts and agreements, lists of students receiving graduate degrees, student academic records, applications for assistantships, and letters of recommendation.

This Series contains records of the UMC Department of Economics, (1971-1986). Included in this Series are correspondence with the Dean of the UMC College of Business and Public Administration as well as other correspondence of the Chair of the Department of Economics. A copy of the 1982 annual report of the Missouri Council of Economic Education is also included in this Series.

This Series contains administrative records created by the Department of Economics at the University of Missouri, (ca. 1992-1998). The records, many created during the chairmanship of Michael Podgursky, consist of the following types and topics: enrollment statistics (in some instances including data from the 1960s), faculty cumulative updates, (1994-1996) [RESTRICTED], faculty meeting agendas and minutes, (1994-1995) [RESTRICTED], academic personnel [RESTRICTED], faculty curriculum vitae, (1990s), student assessment, course information for Economics 4 and 301, including schedules, examinations, etc., administrative correspondence and memoranda, committee lists, Center for Economic Education position announcement, (1993), doctoral faculty reappointment reminders, departmental policies, enrollment management, undergraduate program, undergraduate teaching assistantships, departmental self study, (1992), seminar lists, (1997), and a minor in Economics. The Series also includes draft files for a book by Podgursky and Dale Ballou entitled "Teacher Pay And Teacher Quality," (1995).

Restrictions Note: The Archives of the University of Missouri-Columbia is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files. Consultations with legal counsel, both in-house and external, are protected by the attorney/client privilege and will not be released.
