Scope and Content Note
This Sub-Group holds records of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine's Pathology Department. Included in the Sub-Group are departmental and faculty correspondence files, faculty papers, surgical pathology reports, autopsy reports, cytology reports, committee files, materials relating to the development of computer systems for the Pathology Department, and files pertaining to the American Medical Association-United States Agency for International Development "Medical Education Project P0203, Vietnam."
Series Descriptions:
Series 1. - C:14/30/1
This Series contains records of the MU School of Medicine's Pathology Department (1948, 1964, 1968). Included are surgical pathology reports, (1968), autopsy reports, (1948), and cytology reports, (1964). Each type of report [RESTRICTED] includes patient identification information and a pathology accession number.

Series 2. - C:14/30/2 (A83-79)
This Series holds records compiled by Professor Emeritus of Pathology, Howard C. Hopps, a faculty member of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine's Pathology Department (1970-1983). Included in this Series are correspondence files, Hopps' curriculum vitae, a professional bibliography, and informational handouts pertaining to a course Hopps intended to teach.

This Series holds records compiled by Professor Emeritus of Pathology, George D. Amromin, a faculty member of the School of Medicine's Pathology Department (ca. 1940-1985). Included in this Series are copies of some of Professor Amromin's journal articles, research abstracts, and course texts. Also included in the Series are a photograph of Amromin and a copy of his curriculum vitae.

This former Series contains correspondence and other materials compiled by Professor of Pathology, Wellington Stewart, a faculty member of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine's Pathology Department (ca. 1960-1990).
Series 5. - C:14/30/5 (A87-8)
This Series holds records created and received by the MU School of Medicine's Department of Pathology about the American Medical Association and United States Agency for International Development program known as, "Medical Education Project P0203, Vietnam" (ca. 1967-1975). Vietnamese pathology technicians were trained at the University of Missouri-Columbia as part of this project. With the fall of South Vietnam, in 1975, the program came to an abrupt end. Included in the Series are correspondence files, evaluative reports, contracts, meeting minutes and notes, participants' resumes and clearance papers, equipment shipping lists, and training brochures and other course materials.

This Series holds official committee files of the Pathology Department's Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Hospitals (ca. 1981). Included in this Series are files of the Joint Commission's Past Survey Records.

Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files. Consultations with legal counsel, both in-house and external, are protected by the attorney/client privilege and will not be released.
