Scope and Content Note
This Sub-Group contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine's Department of Family and Community Medicine. Included in this Sub-Group are correspondence files, reprints of faculty publications, lectures and speeches, committee minutes, annual reports, task force reports, research proposals, examination results and statistics, affiliation agreements, photographs, faculty vita, grant and research files, promotion and tenure files, and general subject files.
Series Descriptions:
Series 1 - C:14/26/1 (A85-79)
This Series contains UMC School of Medicine Department of Family and Community Medicine records pertaining to Professor Carl J. Marienfeld's Directorship of the Department's Environmental Health Surveillance Center and Office of Intercampus Health-Related Research, (1958-1984). Topics addressed within this Series include rheumatic fever, environmental geochemistry, trace substance research, environmental research project proposals, environmental education, Marienfeld's speeches, Missouri comprehensive health planning, public drinking water surveys, and cancer control.

This Series contains records of the UMC Department of Family and Community Medicine's "Physicians for Rural Missouri Analysis," (1978). Included in this Series are data from the analysis group's work and results of the study.

This Series contains general subject files of the UMC School of Medicine's Department of Family and Community Medicine, (1984-1990). Included in this series are records pertaining to the Kellogg Foundation, post-doctoral training, miscellaneous grants and gifts, the Fayette Clinic, residency selection and goals and objectives, (1972-1983), aggregate scores of in-training examinations (anonymous), (1984-1986), resident exam scores (anonymous), research and training grants, Medicaid and Medicare monthly reports, Missouri residency requirements, and the Environmental Protection Agency. This Series also contains the Medical Staff Bylaws of the University Hospitals and Clinics of the University of Missouri-Columbia, (1981) and affiliation agreements with St. John's and Missouri Baptist Hospitals.

This Series contains files of the UMC School of Medicine's Department of Family and Community Medicine, (1994-2001). Included in this Series are Boone County Health Report Project records, (1994-1997) and Center for Family Medicine Science documents, including meeting minutes, (1998-2001). Also included in this Series are Family Health Center files, with topics such as: budgets, Boone County Community Health Assessment Steering Committee, Boone County Family Health Center (BCFHC) Community Assessment, BCFHC development, BCFHC expansion, the Joint Task Force on Access to Care, the Parkade Clinic, Horizon Research Services, remodeling project, and school health.

This Series contains records of the UMC School of Medicine's Department of Family and Community Medicine, (1977-1989). Included in this Series are records that belong to the Residency Program, which concern Residency Accreditation, (1983-1987), and Match materials, (1977-1989).

This Series contains records from the Department of Family and Community Medicine, (1979-2003). The Series includes personnel records of past faculty [RESTRICTED] as well as general correspondence, evaluation forms, curricula vitae, and photographic prints. Other records found in this Series are statistics from in-training examinations, residents' records, a proposal for an Accelerated Residency Program, alumni survey reports, (1985, 1988), Medical School photograph sheets for the Class of 1995, the Class of 1996 and the Class of 1997, and a variety of photographs and negatives used for brochures and other publicity.

Series 8. - C:14/26/6 (A04-65)
This Series contains records created or received by the Department of Family and Community Medicine, (1993-1998). The Series consists of research records regarding the Lower Respiratory Infection Project, including correspondence, reports, and grant forms. Also contained in the Series are grant records, including copies of the grant application, the proposal, and literature off-prints for "Social Pregnancy and Prenatal Care Utilization."

This Series contains records created or received by the Department of Family and Community Medicine, (1961-1998). The Series consists of departmental annual reports, (1961-1998), a "Report of the Committee to Review the Department," (1976), faculty publication lists, and a white paper entitled Department of Community Health and Medical Practice.

This Series contains records created or received by the Department of Family and Community Medicine, (1992-2003). The records are mainly administrative and consist of Robert Wood Johnson Project annual reports, (1995-1999), Grant Generating Project records, (2000-2003), and Continuing Medical Education records, (1998-2000) [RESTRICTED]. Most of the Grant Generating Project records originate from its director, Daniel R. Longo.

Restrictions Note: The Archives of the University of Missouri-Columbia is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files.
