Scope and Content Note

This Sub-Group holds administrative records of the MU School of Medicine's Department of Radiology. Included in the Sub-Group are general administrative correspondence files and files of correspondence with professional organizations such as the American Radiology Society, the National Institutes of Health, the Radiology Society of North America, and the International Skeletal Society. Also included in this Sub-Group are meeting minutes of Radiology Department committees.

Series Descriptions:

Series 1. - C:14/35/1 (A83-66)
This Series holds administrative records of the UMC School of Medicine's Department of Radiology (1950-1983). Most of these records were generated from 1956 through 1978, during the tenure of Department of Radiology Chairman, Gwilym S. Lodwick. Included in the Series are files of correspondence with professional organizations such as American Radiology Society, the National Institution of Health, the Radiology Society of North America, and the International Skeletal Society. Also included in the Series are meeting minutes of the UMC Radiology Department's Isotope Committee, Human Use Committee, Reactor Advisory Committee, Faculty Advisory Committee, Research Council, and Bone Symposium. Additional records in this Series relate to grant applications, Bioengineering dissertations, image analysis, computer tomography, and the proceedings of various radiological conferences.

Series 2. - C:14/35/2 (A95-122)
This Series holds research files pertaining to radiation and mutation of wheat germ (1977-1982). These records were compiled by Department of Radiology Emeritus Professor, Henry A. McQuade, and Department of Radiology Professor, Ernest R. Sears. Included in the Series are lab procedures, photomicrography of experiments, lab journals, correspondence files, journal articles, and materials pertaining to USDA research grants.

Series 3. - C:14/35/NP (A91-20; A97-10)
This Series holds administrative files of the MU School of Medicine's Department of Radiology (1985-1986). Included in the Series are contract files, promotion and tenure files, and files pertaining to faculty leave requests, faculty leave awarded grants, and past research grant information.

Series 4. - C:14/35/3 (A08-12)
This Series contains records created by the Department of Radiology in the University of Missouri's School of Medicine, (ca. 1974-1999). The records consist of faculty and resident personnel files [RESTRICTED] that include evaluation forms, privilege requests, salary notices, leave requests, and promotion records.

Restrictions Note: The Archives of the University of Missouri-Columbia is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files. Consultations with legal counsel, both in-house and external, are protected by the attorney/client privilege and will not be released.
