Scope and Content Note
This Sub-Group holds records of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Medicine's Department of Neurology. Included in this Sub-Group are correspondence files, academic personnel records, sabbatical leave reports, annual reviews, achievement records, long-range planning documents, personnel recruitment files, project files, medical studies applications, faculty resumes, committee meeting minutes, statistical reports concerning in-patient care, and planning documents pertaining to course offerings.
Series Descriptions:
Series 1. - C:14/34/1 (A95-62)
This Series contains MU School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry and Neurology academic personnel records (1958-1991). Included in the Series are correspondence files, sabbatical leave reports, annual reviews, and personnel achievement reports.

Series 2. - C:14/46/1 (A74-30)
This Series holds administrative records of the MU School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry and Neurology (1963-1969). These records were gathered by Department of Neurology Chairman Dr. John E. Somers and contain some of his personal correspondence. Also included in the Series are departmental correspondence files, departmental planning records, personnel recruitment files, medical studies applications, resumes, committee meeting minutes, grant applications, payroll records, and records pertaining to planning for course offerings.

Series 3. - C:14/46/2 (A83-46)
This Series holds UMC School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry and Neurology monthly statistical reports concerning patient care (1961-1979). These reports include statistics concerning admissions, patients operated upon, diagnostic procedures, non-operative and post-operative deaths, post-operative complications, and points for review at monthly Department of Neurology meetings.

This Series contains administrative records of the MU School of Medicine's Department of Psychiatry and Neurology (1960-1992, 1994-1995). Included in the Series are general correspondence and memoranda files, UMC School of Medicine staff meeting minutes and materials, Department of Psychiatry and Neurology staff meeting minutes and materials, annual reports, time studies, fee schedules, research reports, records pertaining to Department of Neurology "Grand Rounds," and project files. Project files include the Behavioral Health Network and the Green Meadows Clinic. This Series also includes records relating to the residency program.

Also included in the Series are residency surveys and general residency information.

Restrictions Note: The Archives of the University of Missouri-Columbia is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files. Consultations with legal counsel, both in-house and external, are protected by the attorney/client privilege and will not be released.
