This Record Sub-Group consists of records accumulated by University of Missouri-Columbia Journalism School Professor Robert W. Haverfield. Included in the Sub-Group are teaching evaluations, miscellaneous black and white photos (including one of Walter Williams), news clippings, "J-Week" materials, Freedom of Information Center materials, Advising information, materials regarding the Advertising Department of Journalism School, and publicity information on the U.S. Air Force Band and "Singing Sergeants."

Also included in this Sub-Group are records relating to Journalism Alumni, Journalism placement materials, copies of Press Time, plans for celebrating the retirement of Dean Earl F. English, Dean Roy M. Fisher, and Betty Luker Haverfield, Magazine Award lists, miscellaneous correspondence, information on Oscars in Agriculture, Walter Williams Club materials, internship information, and interview files. Biographical Note:

Robert W. Haverfield was a long-time Professor and Administrator in the Advertising Department of the UMC School of Journalism. He became a member of the School of Journalism Faculty in 1948. In 1963, Haverfield was appointed Director of the Journalism School's Placement Office. He directed the Placement Office until his death in 1986, at the age of 64.

Professor Haverfield married Betty Luker Haverfield, also a Journalism School faculty member, in 1944. They had two children, a son Robert David and a daughter Judith. Following the death of his first wife, in 1978, Haverfield married Merle M. Hallidy, who survived his passing.
