Scope and Content Note
This Record Sub-Group contains photographic material, publications, correspondence, speeches, and memorabilia created or received by the MU Publications and the Alumni Communications Offices of the University Relations Division. Publications in this Sub-Group include Mizzou Magic.

Series 1. - C:1/139/00
This Series contains Mizzou Magic published by the Alumni Communications Offices of University Relations, (1984-2010 with gaps).

Series 2. - C:1/139/3 (A11-113)
This Series contains miscellaneous records received by the MU Office of Publications and Alumni Communications, (1990, 2006). The records consist of a piece of correspondence from Mort Walker along with a photograph of Walker, (1990), a letter from Sam M. Walton, (1990), and the speech note cards of John Anderson, who was Master of Ceremonies for the 150th MU Alumni Association Gala Event, (2006).

Series 3. - C:1/139/4 (A11-120)
This Series contains printed and duplicated material and other memorabilia created or collected by the Office of Publications and Alumni Communications, (2011). The records all pertain to the Centennial Homecoming Celebration and include posters, flyers, postcards, a megaphone, sunglasses, pom-poms, and a button.

Series 4. - C:1/139/5 (A14-22)
This Series contains photographic material created and received by the Office of Publications and Alumni Communications, (1906, ca. 1958-2005, bulk 1996-2003). The records consist of slides, negatives, and prints depicting stock scenes of MU campus life, including, among others, buildings, classrooms, research, student life, faculty, sports, Marching Mizzou, and graduation. The Series also includes photography for specific publication projects.

Note to Researcher: Some of the photography is by professional photographers such as Bill Denison who were not part of the Office of Publication photography staff, and those photographs, therefore, have unique copyright considerations.

Series 5. - C:1/139/6 (A14-35)
This Series contains publications and administrative records created and received by the Office of Publications, (1992-1996). The records consist of survey requests, completed survey forms, and various departmental and other publications from across the MU campus submitted as part of a 1996 Survey of MU External Publications.

Series 6. - C:1/139/7 (A16-14)
This Series contains administrative and other records created and received by Mizzou Creative and its predecessor, the Office of Publications and Alumni Communications, (1950-2015). The records pertain to various publications and projects produced by the Office of Publications and include, among other items, mock-ups, sample copies, letterhead, envelopes, printing orders, drafts, correspondence, and memoranda. Also part of this Series are a number of topical files maintained by the Office of Publications such as campus buildings, the Kissing Bridge, and university logos. The Series also contains a number of audio-visual promotional items, including video tapes and optical media.

Series 7. - C:1/139/8 (A17-53)
This Series contains administrative and other records created and received by Karen Worley, Director of the Office of Publications and Alumni Communications. The records consist of meeting minutes and reports from various campus committees, as well as administrative materials on such topics as departmental space needs, honors for former director Steve Shinn, and research materials and photographs used for writing or publishing articles in the alumni magazine and other publications.

Series 8. - C:1/139/9 (A18-31)
This Series contains photographic records created and received by the Office of Publications and Alumni Communications, (ca. 1950, 1978-2004) The records consist of photographic materials, including prints, negatives, and slides, documenting many individuals and activities on the MU campus. Much of the photographic material was created for publications such as Mizzou Weekly, Mizzou Magic, Missouri Alumnus, Illuminations, and other campus printed and duplicated material. The Series also contains contract work done by professional photographers or agencies for the Office of Publications.

Restrictions Note: The Archives of the University of Missouri-Columbia is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files. Consultations with legal counsel, both in-house and external, are protected by the attorney/client privilege and will not be released.
