Scope and Content Note
This Sub-Group contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia Learning Center. Included in this Sub-Group are correspondence files, meeting minutes, general committee files, proposals, planning documents, grant documentation, budget information, manuals, annual reports, and newsletters. Topics include: Standing Service Unit on Development, Proposals and Consultation, Policy Committee of the College of Education, and the Student Success Center (SSC).
Historical Note:
The Student Success Center (SSC) is a central place that provides connections to the total campus and its comprehensive resources through a series of referrals, programs and services. The Learning Center is a component organization of the SSC, which offers free academic assistance. The SSC website is located at https://success.missouri.edu/.
Series Descriptions:
Series 1 - C:1/39/1 (A96-130)
This Series contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia Learning Center (1983-1985). Included in this Series are correspondence files, meeting minutes and other general committee files for the Standing Service Unit on Development, Proposals and Consultation and the Policy Committee of the College of Education, both of which included Bonnie Zelenak, Director of the Learning Center, as chair or officer.

This Series contains records originating from the University of Missouri-Columbia Learning Center (1977-1987). Included in this Series are proposals, planning documents, grant documentation [RESTRICTED], budget information, and annual reports for the Student Success Center (SSC).

This Series contains records created and received by the University of Missouri-Columbia Learning Center (1976-1998). The Series contains quarterly student reports, (1976-1977), Special Services Program grant records, (1976-1980), an undergraduate assessment program, and records related to various tutoring programs.

This Series contains instructional records created by the Student Success Center, (2004). The records consist of training material for instructors of University courses offered or sponsored by the Student Success Center. The Series includes a training manual and training workshop agenda for the course Learning Strategies (SSC 1150).

Series 5. - C:1/39/5 (A06-05)
This Series contains records created and received by the University of Missouri-Columbia Learning Center, (1987-2000). The majority of the administrative records in this Series were created and received by Director of the Learning Center, Bonnie Zelenak. The records consist of correspondence, meeting minutes, and notes. The records pertain to Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Directors' Staff meetings, the Subcommittee on Academic Support Services, the MU Institute for Instructional Technology, University Forum, (1996-2000), and the position search for Director of Disability Services [RESTRICTED]. The Series also contains newsletters of the Writing Lab, (1987-1991).

Restrictions Note: The Archives of the University of Missouri-Columbia is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files. Consultations with legal counsel, both in-house and external, are protected by the attorney/client privilege and will not be released.
