Scope and Content Note

This Sub-Group contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia School of Journalism's Freedom of Information Center. Included in this Sub-Group are correspondence files, general administrative records, copies of the Freedom of Information Center Publication, and the Freedom of Information Center Report, the F.O.I. Digest. Also included in the Sub-Group is a collection of speeches, entitled "A Freedom of Information Retrospective in Observance of the Twentieth Year of the F.O.I. Center, UMC 1978," concerning the history and development of the Freedom of Information Center.

Series Descriptions:

Series 1. - C:11/7/1 (A84-85; A23-50; various sources)
This Series contains printed and duplicated material of the Freedom of Information (FOI) Center, (1958-1985). The material includes issues of the following FOI Center publications: Publication "00" Series, (ca. 1958-1980), Freedom of Information Center Publication series, (1958-1967), Freedom of Information Center Report series, (1967-1984), F.O.I. Digest, (1959-1985, with gaps), Freedom of Information Center Position/Situtation Papers or Reports, (1964-1971), and various "lettered" Position Papers (with gaps). Also included in this Series are published speeches given during the FOI Center conferences as well as a variety of other publications sponsored by or pertaining to the Freedom of Information Center.

Included in this Series are records pertaining to budgetary, role and scope, and long-range development concerns, as well as every aspect of the day-to-day operation of the F.O.I. Center.

This Series contains administrative records of the Freedom of Information Center, (1958, 1965-1981). The records consist of planning files for conferences, including the 1st, 8th, 9th and 10th Freedom of Information Conferences and the 1969 Conference on Censorship. The Series also includes advisory committee records of the FOI Center, FOI Center publicity news clippings, FOI Center promotion, and correspondence of the FOI Center, including that of Paul Fisher, its director [RESTRICTED]. The record types found in this Series include correspondence, meeting records, press releases, telegrams, printed and duplicated material, photographic material, fiscal records, registration forms, and speeches.
