Record Group: 1 UW Record Sub-Group: 9 Records Title: UM System; Board of Curators; Financial Records Dates: 1874-1956 Volume: 5 and 1/2 cubic feet, 6.86 linear feet Scope and Content Note This Sub-Group contains records of the University of Missouri Board of Curators which relate to financial matters concerning the University. Included is a copy of the original "Honor Roll" of the contributors to the fund which established the University of Missouri in Columbia. Also included are records of endowments and investments by the University, securities registers, microfilmed General Fund Disbursement Vouchers, financial ledgers, property books, and a treasurer's "staff form" and employment history cards. Series Description: Series 1. - UW:1/5/1 (A76-8) This Series holds financial records of the MU Board of Curators (1874-1956). Included are a "University Property Book" (1875-1893), an Endowment Fund Ledger (1914-1917), a "miscellaneous financial ledger" (ca. 1920), a 1900 report on certificates of indebtedness (by Judge Alexander Martin) and general records of bonds, endowments, and investments (1874-1956). Also included is a 1937 Register of University-owned securities deposited with the State Treasurer. (6 Vols., Ellis; OSF, MC) Series 2. - UW:1/5/2 (A81-62) This Series contains financial records of the University of Missouri Board of Curators (1923-1963). Included are documents pertaining to Board of Curators Treasurer, Robert Beverly Price, Jr. Among these documents are a "Staff Form" (signed by Price) and five pages of his employment history cards. Also included in this Series is a 1951 photographic portrait of Price. Series 3. - UW:1/5/3 (A81-34; A83-1; A91-121) This Series contains financial records of the University of Missouri Board of Curators (1840-1963). Included are a bound copy of the original "Honor Roll" list of Boone County subscribers whose pledges secured the University of Missouri for Columbia, lists of subscribers pledging for five other Missouri Counties, a list of prominent citizens who guaranteed the payment of subscriptions, and two receipts for payment of portions of Neuman T. Mitchell's subscription. Also included are photocopies of related documents, such as property deeds for land given by subscribers instead of cash, auditor's reports to the Treasurer of the Board of Curators, settlements made by the Board Treasurer, a court case petition from MU versus Moss Prewitt (concerning non-payment of subscriptions), and the "Honor Roll No. 2" listing subscribers who pledged funds to rebuild the University after the fire of 1892 (which destroyed most of the University's facilities) (1/2 c.f.: 1/6 c.f., UMLD1; 1/3 c.f., UMLD1; Env., Ellis; Pkg., Ellis) Note to Researcher: For more on The Honor Roll and Honor Roll No. 2, see Sub-Group 45 of Record-Group 1 C.
