Scope and Content Note

This Record Sub-Group contains the administrative files of the MU College of Education's Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Included in the Sub-Group are correspondence, departmental project records, and academic personnel files.

Series Descriptions:

Series 1. - C:8/25/1 (A86-135)
This Series holds office records (ca. 1970-1979) generated by Department of Curriculum and Instruction and pertain to projects such as the "Teaching Legal Rights and Responsibilities Project," the "Basic Concepts in Government and Economics" video lesson series (including 24 VHS cassettes, a synopsis of content, and an instructor's guide for an elementary level course.

Series 2. - C:8/25/NP (A91-66)
This Series contains administrative files (ca. 1970-1972) of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction relating to the grant funded Pilot Training Project for Personnel Participating in Pilot State Dissemination Programs. This multi-year program funded by the US Department of Health, Education and Welfare's Office of Education was intended to develop a model for information selection and dissemination from state departments of education to local schools. This Series was created and received by Associate Program Director Carl C. Fehrle who in cooperation with Program Director Charles Koelling administered the grant and the project. Included in the Series are correspondence files, state-visit reports for the various phases of the grant, instruction and training files, grant proposals and final grant reports and other administrative records relating to the administration and operation of the program.

Series 5. - C:8/25/NP (A91-66)
This Series contains administrative files (ca. 1972-1982) of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction relating to the Humanizing, Individualizing and Personalizing Education, HIP, program. This multi-year program was a cooperative program by the MU College of Education's Department of Curriculum and Instruction and the Columbia Public Schools. The purpose of the H.I.P. Alternative Teacher Education Program was to develop and implement "a process of individualizing, personalizing, and humanizing learning by tailoring instructional approaches to individual differences rather than requiring all prospective teachers (enrolled in the MU's College of Education) to learn in the same way and at the same pace." This Series was created and received by Program Director and Professor Neila T. Pettit. Included in the Series are correspondence, HIP Learning Community meetings and planning sessions, reports, newsletters, scheduling and planning records, workshop and instructional materials, and other administrative records relating to the administration and operation of the program.

This Series contains administrative records of the Depart of Learning, Teaching and Curriculum in the University of Missouri's College of Education, (1991-2015). The records consist of the following types and topics: faculty meeting minutes and agendas, (2012-2015), college and department reorganization, Literature Club, faculty teaching/course assignments, and the Southwestern Bell Foundation Science Education Center.
