Scope and Content Note
This Sub-Group contains materials relating to the history of the UMC College of Education. Included in this Sub-Group are an historical summary of the College of Education, records pertaining to the College of Education's Bicentennial Committee, and materials gathered by the Project on the History of Women at the University of Missouri.
Series Descriptions:
Series 1. - C:8/19/1 (A74-24)
This Series contains a historical summary of the MU College of Education, (1867-1937). Included in the Series are excerpts from UMC catalogs and bulletins, portions of MU Board of Curators' meeting minutes and Missouri General Assembly journals, as well as newspaper articles.

Series 2. - C:8/19/2 (A74-27)
This Series contains materials gathered by College of Education Professor W. R. Carter concerning the history of women at the University of Missouri, (ca. 1938). Along with Professor Carter's research findings, there is a copy of an article based on Professor Carter's work, written by Professors Lloyd Jorgenson and Marjorie Meredith, (1969).

Series 3. - C:8/19/3 (A79-16)
This Series contains records, correspondence, and memorabilia relating to the (United States) Bicentennial Committee of the College of Education, (ca. 1975-1976), Professor Lloyd Jorgenson, chairman. Included in this Series are a centennial brochure, a brief history of the College of Education, committee correspondence, and photographs of students in classrooms.

Series 4. - C:8/19/4 (A22-05)
This Series contains a historical document pertaining to the College of Education's Townsend Hall, (2000). The record consists of a DVD recording capturing a segment from a KOMU Channel 8 news report. Reporter Brad Douglas focuses on the newly renovated Townsend Hall as the old home of the University High School. The interview is with a former counselor at the school, Norman C. Gysbers.
