This Record Sub-Group contains the office files of the University of Missouri-Columbia College of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources' Horticulture Department. The majority of these records were generated during the chairmanships of Raymond A. Schroeder (1974-1977) and Donald A. Hegwood (1977-1984). The files in the Sub-Group pertain to such topics as MU's Cooperative Extension Service, staff correspondence, fruit trees, nuts, soil quality and types, herbicides, insecticides, environmental quality regulations, Missouri wine tax legislation (1982), and the annual Missouri State Wine Judging. Additionally included in the Sub-Group are photographs of Donald Hegwood, Herb Beisemeyer, and students receiving awards, as well as records documenting departmental relations with non-university organizations, conduct of government-funded research projects, and the awarding of grants.

Series Descriptions:

This Sub-Group is divided into eight separate record series. Series One contains department and faculty correspondence. Series Two holds the department's administrative records that were generated under Chairman Hedwood. Series Three contains files relating to curriculum and student records. The contents of Series Four pertain to the Agricultural Extension Service. Series Five holds documents relating grants and funding of departmental research.

Series Six contains records pertaining to departmental relations with University offices, University committees, non-university organizations, and other colleges and universities. Series Seven contains the records of government-supported research projects. Series Eight contains departmental administrative records generated during Chairman Schroeder's tenure.
