Scope and Content Note

This Sub-Group contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia Children's Hospital and Women's Center (UMCCHWC). Included in this Sub-Group are broadcast tapes of "Children's Miracle Network Telethon" broadcasts, (1986-1999), general UMCCHWC administrative correspondence (1992-1993), correspondence of Associate Hospital Director Donna Otto, (ca. 1992-1999), as well as meeting minutes and related records of UMCCHWC committees, councils, and boards. Also included are administrative planning files, publicity event programs and speech texts, photographs of individuals and events, and Children's Miracle Network Telethon procedure manuals, (1985-1994). Additionally included are personnel reduction records, UMC School of Nursing cooperation records, reports concerning UMCCHWC projects #51 through #260, annual reports of the UMC Children's Hospital and Women's Center, as well as statistics, newsletters, business plan materials, and records of employee service awards.

Series Descriptions:

Series 1 - C:23/12/1 (A98-84; A99-63; A00-59; A01-43; A02-48)
This Series contains broadcast videotape masters of Children's Miracle Network Telethon broadcasts from the Children's Hospital of the University of Missouri-Columbia Hospital and Clinics, (1986-1998). These programs, modeled on such nationally known productions such as the annual "Muscular Dystrophy Telethon," were held to raise funds for care children. Formats include VHS cassettes, Mini U-Matics, and 3/4" U-Matics.

This Series contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia Children's Hospital and Women's Center, (1985-1993). Included in the Series are general administrative correspondence created or received by Associate Hospital Director Donna Otto, (ca. 1992-1999) and Director of Hospital Operations Claudia Jones, (1993-1994). Included in the Series are Agency for Health Care Policy and Research (NHCPR) records and committee meeting records for the Nursing Administration Council, Clinical Nurse Council, Nurses Practices Committee, Patient Education Committee, and the Quality Assurance and Standards Committee. Also included in the Series are administrative planning files, publicity materials, event programs and speech texts, photographs of individuals and events and Children's Miracle Network Telethon procedure manuals, (1985-1991). Additionally included are Home Health Care Advisory Board records, Appalachian Council of University Teaching Hospitals (ACUTH) meeting records, personnel reduction records, UMC School of Nursing cooperation records, UMCCHWC business and fiscal records, reports concerning UMCCHWC projects #51 through #260, and annual reports of the UMC Children's Hospital and Women's Center.

Included in this Series are Children's Hospital and Women's Center statistics, newsletters, business planning materials, and records of employee service awards. Also included in the Series are meeting minutes and related records of the UMCCHWC Obstetric Patient Management Committee, Infection Control Committee, Women's Health Care and Perinatal Unit Board, Newborn Services Multidisciplinary Quality Improvement Committee, Women's Service Line Committee, Children's Hospital Service Line Committee, and Childbirth Education Committee (1992-1993).

Series 4 - C:23/12/4 (A00-59; A01-80; A11-26)
This Series contains records pertaining to the administrative, technical, promotional, and financial aspects of the Children's Miracle Network broadcasts, (1985-1994). Included in this Series are Steering Committee records and minutes, (1985-1991), annual reports, and records of celebrity involvement (including Dawn Wells appearance contract materials). Technical records and materials include: records of production meetings, teleprompter materials, scripts, and stage directions. Promotional materials and records include: brochures, buttons, a lapel pin, media articles and press releases, photographic images (photographs and contact sheets - black and white - both posed and non-posed celebrity images as well as impromptu shots of the broadcasts and community involvement), and a few color slides. Financial records include: expenses, funding, and corporate sponsorship records. The Series also includes a scrapbook with photographs and newsclippings, (1985).

Series 5. - C:23/12/2 (A03-23; A04-37)
This Series contains records of the Children's Hospital, (1993-2001). The majority of the records concern the affiliation of the Children's Hospital with the Children's Miracle Network (CMN). The records consist of CMN operational files including celebrity appearance contracts and publicity information, as well as Steering Committee files, (1995). Also included in the Series are records pertaining to specific events such as the Jon Sunvold Golf Tournament and the Summer Lodge Gala, (1998). The Series also holds Children's Hospital Advisory Board (CHAB) files, (1994-1998), including records of the Medical Advisory Board and of CHAB's various sub-committees.

This Series contains records of the Women's Center and Children's Hospital, (1992-1997). The records consist of structure standards or policies for various nursing units, including the Women's Health Care Unit, the Newborn Health Care Unit, the Perinatal Assessment Suite, and the Perinatal Unit.

This Series contains printed and duplicated material of the Children's Hospital and Women's Health Center, (1989-2013). The material consists of flyers, brochures, mailers, staff information sheets and publications, including Imagine, Missouri Miracles, Children's Miracle Network Update, and Women's Health Center Newsletter/Women's Health Newsletter.
