Scope and Content Note
This Record Sub-Group contains records created by the MU Libraries' Reference Services Department in Ellis Library at the University of Missouri-Columbia. The records consist of policies and procedures, printed and duplicated material, meeting minutes, and photographic material.
Series Descriptions:
Series 1. - C:20/16/1 (A10-31)
This Series contains records created by the Reference Services Department in Ellis Library, (1992). The records consist of a "Policies and Procedures" manual for reference services.

Series 2. - C:20/16/2 (A13-73)
This Series contains administrative and other records created and received by the Reference Services Department in Ellis Library, (1924-2011, bulk 1980-2000). The records consist of the following types and topics: annual reports, reader services, library space, reference centralization, committee and task force meetings, collection development, online catalogs, serials cancellation, the North American Collection Inventory Project, strategic planning, and various library departments. The records in this Series were collected and maintained by Librarian and Head of Reference Services Mary Ryan.

This Series contains records created and received by the Reference Services Department in Ellis Library, (1974-2008). The records consist of printed and duplicated material produced by Reference Services, including search guides, collection guides, service guides, maps, and other such informational material. Also included are photographic slides and negatives used in library-related publications, promotions, or presentations. The Series also contains a few adminstrative records such as reports from the Committee on Library Services to Undergraduates.

This Series contains administrative records of the Reference Services Department in Ellis Library at the University of Missouri, (1985-1989, 1998-2000). The records consist of departmental meeting minutes.

Note to Archivist: Accession A20-56, which covers the years 1985-1989, consists of only digital copies of meeting minutes provided by former Ellis Library Reference Librarian, E. Wayne Barnes.

This Series contains administrative and other records, (ca. 1967-2015), created and received by Pushpajit Goodie Bhullar, mostly from the period she served as Bibliographic Instruction Coordinator and Librarian in the Reference Department of Ellis Library. The records consist of correspondence, memoranda, plans, reports, statistics, committee files, handbooks, manuals, photographic slides, audio cassette tapes, and printed and duplicated material. The records pertain to the following topics: the Library Skills/Research (Library Science 105) and the Library Research (ISLT 1110) courses, library instruction, library orientation, library tours, the Bibliographic/Library Instruction Committee, the electronic classroom in Ellis Library, the General Education Program, and Computer and Information Proficiency (CIP) at MU.

Restrictions Note: The Archives of the University of Missouri-Columbia is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files. Consultations with legal counsel, both in-house and external, are protected by the attorney/client privilege and will not be released.
