Scope and Content Note

This Record Sub-Group contains miscellaneous records created by the Technical Services Division in Ellis Library at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Units included in Technical Services are the Catalog Department, the Acquisitions Department, and Library Technology Services. Types of records in this Sub-Group include catalog cards produced by Technical Services and serial lists.

Series Descriptions:

Series 1. - C:20/12/2 (A05-63; A06-37)
This Series contains library catalog cards for graduate student papers written for the Library Research (450) course in the School of Library and Information Science, (ca. 1969-1986). The cards consist of author/title and subject cards. Also included in this Series are microfiche of some of the papers described by the catalog cards, (1969-1980).

Series 2. - C:20/12/3 (A08-83)
This Series contains an early version of the Library Technology Services Department's web site, (6/10/1999). Included on the site are a consultant report, department goals, and a list of department staff.

Series 3. - C:20/12/6 (A23-07)
This Series contains serial lists created by the Technical Services Division in the MU Libraries, (1994). The records consist of three bound volumes of printouts of the Libraries' current periodicals list, including titles, location codes, call numbers, and subscription status.

Series 4. - C:20/12/7 (A23-13)
This Series contains miscellaneous records of the Technical Services Division in the MU Libraries, (1979-2005). The records pertain to LUMIN, MERLIN, and other cataloging procedures and policies. Series 4 also includes a historical sketch of LUMIN by George Rickerson and issues of an Office of Library Systems newsletter entitled "LSO Update", (1988-1991).

Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files. Consultations with legal counsel, both in-house and external, are protected by the attorney/client privilege and will not be released.
