Scope and Content Note

This Record Sub-Group contains administrative records created by the Technical Services Division in Ellis Library at the University of Missouri-Columbia. Units included in Technical Services are the Catalog Department, the Acquisitions Department, and Library Technology Services. Types of administrative records found in this Sub-Group include departmental committee meeting minutes, correspondence, memoranda, and policy and procedure manuals.

Series Descriptions:

Series 1. - C:20/12/1 (A05-71)
This Series contains meeting minutes and administrative records created and received by the head of the Technical Services Division in Ellis Library at the University of Missouri-Columbia, (1978-1991). The records consist of departmental meeting minutes, (1978-1991), administrative correspondence and memoranda, acquisition statistics, policies and procedures, and budget files. The majority of the administrative records, (1989-1991), date from the period in which Carol Vaughn was head of Technical Services.

Note to Archivist: The administrative records from the period 1989-1991 are on 3.5 inch diskettes, mostly in the Word Perfect format. These records have been transferred in their original format to a CD-R.

Series 2. - C:20/12/4 (A13-104)
This Series contains administrative and other records of the Serials Department in the Technical Services Division of Ellis Library at the University of Missouri, (ca. 1979-2005, bulk 1990-1995). The majority of the records pertain to departmental procedures such as gifts, location changes, cancellations, LUMIN, MERLIN, etc. A number of records relate to journal cancellations. The Series also contains a few records pertaining to the Reference Department in Ellis Library.

Note to Researcher: These records originated with Librarian L. Hunter Kevil who for a time served as head of the Serials Department in Ellis Library. Kevil also served as a reference librarian in Ellis Library.

This Series contains administrative and other records created and received by the Technical Services Division of Ellis Library at the University of Missouri, (1960-2014, bulk 1980-2000). The records consist of the following types and topics: book fund allocation, serials costs, cuts and cancellations, statistics, Collection Development Committee, Staff Representative Committee, LUMIN Quality Control Committee, Library Council, and various Library and campus handbooks and manuals.
