Scope and Content Note

This Sub-Group contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia Extension Division. Included in this Sub-Group are correspondence files, general administrative files, general subject files, legislation materials, pamphlets, reports, speech texts, meeting minutes, interviews, evaluations, program files and planning materials.

Series Descriptions:

Series 1. - C:18/1/1
This Series contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia Extension Division Director's Office, (1955-1968). Included in this Series are correspondence, memoranda, pamphlets, reports, speeches, meeting minutes, news releases, and booklets regarding the Rural Development Program, the Area Redevelopment Act and Administration, and Rural Area Development. many of the record stem from the period C. Brice Ratchford was Dean of the University Extension Division.

Series 2. - C:18/1/NP (A00-101; A01-35)
This Series contains records of the University of Missouri-Columbia Extension Administration, (1985-1987, 1990-1995). Included in the Series are annual state enrollment reports (#ES237) by region documenting participation in 4-H classes and programs, and annual reports and statistics.

Series 3. - C:18/1/NP (A01-36)
This Series contains 4-H event and program files created by the University Extension Division, (1967-1992). The files consist of photographs, negatives, slides, and contact sheets, correspondence and memoranda, and reports. This Series includes images of J.C. Penney and production records of The Never-Ending Season, a fund-raising cookbook.

Series 4. - C:18/1/2 (A02-20; A10-13; A12-110; A14-93)
This Series contains records created by Extension Administration of University Extension Division, (1949-2002). This Series includes quarterly reports, evaluations, "Beginning Project" (an educational program for teen parents) documentation, committee minutes, grant proposals, and correspondence, (1994-1996). Also included in this Series are Missouri 4-H development programs' annual enrollment ES237 reports, statistics, forms [RESTRICTED], and State Congress records [RESTRICTED], photographic slides, and video tapes. Data for the reports are arranged by region and county and consist of various program and enrollment statistics, (1996-2005). The Series also contains records for the International Farm/4-H Youth Exchange Program (IFYE), including newsletters and participant and ambassador files [RESTRICTED], and the Labo Exchange Program, including participant files [RESTRICTED].

Series 5. - C:18/1/3 (A07-75)
This Series contains records created or received by the 4-H Youth Programs of University Extension, (1970, 1983-1987, 1998-2001). The records consist mostly of photographic prints and slides pertaining to the International 4-H Youth Exchange and other international activities of 4-H. Also included is a report on the Wider Horizons Program.

Series 6. - C:18/1/4 (A09-04)
This Series contains records created by University Extension, (1999, 2003). The records consist of a series of video recordings on DVD entitled "University Outreach and Extension - History Through Stories - the 1990s," (2003). The interviewees are James Ollar, James Preston, Ron Powers, Murray Hardesty, and Gordon Warren. The interviews were conducted by Pat Sobrero. Also included in this Series is a video tape (VHS) entitled "Don Fancher Retirement Celebration," (1999), and a cartoon line drawing of Don Fancher.

This Series contains records received by the University of Missouri Extension Division, (2002-2007). The records consist of County and Agent reports, including budget data, activities, and programming. Also included are some newsletters and other County Extension printed and duplicated material.

Series 8. - C:18/1/6 (A13-60)
This Series contains administrative and other records of the University of Missouri Extension Division, (1999-2011). The majority of records in this Series pertain to the Change Agent States Diversity program and to its successor program, Change Agent States. The records consist of correspondence, memoranda, reports, surveys, evaluations, planning, and meeting files. The Series also includes copies of the Extension publication Life after Extension.

Series 10. - C:18/1/8 (A15-63; A16-01; A17-22)
This Series contains meeting files, correspondence, and other records from the Vice Provost of Extension Michael D. Ouart, (ca. 1985, 1996-2000, 2007-2014). The meeting files include Chancellor's Staff, Provost's Staff, and Provost's One-on-one meetings with Ouart. The correspondence dates from 2008-2010. The Series also includes an Extension Policy and Procedure Handbook, (ca. 1985), and copies of Memoranda of Understanding for University Outreach and Extension for the Telecommunication Community Resource Centers (TCRC), (1996-2000).

Series 14. - C:18/1/13 (A20-89)
This Series contains administrative and other records from the Extension Community Development Program, (ca. 1987-2010, 2019). The majority of the records in Series 14 pertain to the Global Leadership Education program, specifically the exchange program with the Royal Thai Government's Community Development Department. The records consist of memoranda, participant lists, exchange packets, memoranda of understanding, photographic materials, itineraries, and news clippings.

Series 15. - C:18/1/12 (A20-71; A21-26)
This Series contains photographic and other records created, collected, and received by University of Missouri Extension, (1959-2007). The records consist in large part of photographic negatives, prints, and slides covering many aspects of the Extension enterprise including the Agricultural Editor's Office and the Agricultural Editors' Photo School. Portions of the materials were created by Fred Duane Dailey and Richard Lee. Series 15 also holds administrative and other records pertaining to the Missouri Mule History Project, (1970-1988), and to the Farm Management Recognition Program, (1964-1988). Also included in Series 15 are news/press releases from the Extension and Agricultural News unit, (1998-2001).

Series 16. - C:18/1/14 (A21-68)
This Series contains administrative and other records created and received by the Extension Community Development Academy, (ca. 1980-1996). The records pertain mainly to the "The State of Franklin" program which was developed from statistical data under the direction of Donald W. Littrell of the Department of Community Development. As noted in the profile book, the "State of Franklin" was used as a "situational setting ... for a simulation-based learning experience" and the exercise intended "to enhance the participants' abilities to recognize, assess, and use information about an area (county, district, region, state)." The Series contains audio-visual material, including slide shows, project manuals and other printed and duplicated material, and maps.

The records consist of the following types and topics: printed and duplicated materials, including newsletters; announcements and information regarding 4-H programs; the Missouri State 4-H Congress; the Legislative Academy; and Youth Civic Leadership Summits.
