This series holds printed and duplicated materials related to the McNair Scholars Program. Materials include issues of the newsletter The Challenger, (1996-2001), and the publication The McNair Journal, (1993-2008), as well as application materials for the program's scholarships.

This Series contains administrative and student records of the McNair Scholars Program in the Graduate School of the University of Missouri, (1989-2001). The records (the majority of which are RESTRICTED) consist of the following types and topics: McNair Scholar Intern, Alternate, pre-Intern, and Continuing Scholar files; printed and duplicated material, including program event flyers and newsletters; rosters; McNair student conferences; program applications; contracts; evaluations; director and coordinator correspondence; committee files, including Faculty Advisory Committee meeting minutes, ratings, and correspondence; schedules; surveys; standardized test scores; recruiting packets; education plans; McNair Day events; workshops and orientations; photographs; Summer Rally; tutor progress reports; mentor files; progress evaluations and reports; site visits, and transcripts.

Restrictions Note: The Archives of the University of Missouri-Columbia is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files. Consultations with legal counsel, both in-house and external, are protected by the attorney/client privilege and will not be released.
