Scope and Content Note

This Sub-Group consists of photographs produced and collected by the MU Office of Public Information. The majority of black and white photographs and negatives in this Sub-Group consist of views of the campus, faculty, administrators, visiting fellows, and distinguished guests. Student organizations and activities in the Sub-Group include Engineer's Week, St. Patrick's Day, Savitar Frolics, the Debating Team, Student Speakers Bureau, ROTC activities, and scholarship and contest winners. Photographs of persons and facilities for the Journalism School, Medical School, and the Law School are included in the Sub-Group as are photographs of legislative tours of the campus. All photographs and negatives making up this Sub-Group were taken between 1956 and 1971.

Historical Note:

The University Relations Division was formerly known as the Office of Public Information and Publications. From 1963 through 1968, the Office of Public Information managed the publicity for the Columbia campus and for the UM-System. In 1968, University Information Services became a separate entity which handled publicity for the UM-System.

Series Descriptions:

This Sub-Group of negatives and photographs is not divided into separate record series. The Sub-Group is largely arranged alphabetically by the topics of the photographic images.
