Scope and Content Note

This Record Sub-Group contains photographs and audio and video material created or received by the Journalism Library, a branch of the MU Libraries. The Sub-Group includes VHS tapes, audio cassettes, event programs, and recording documentation.

Series Descriptions:

Series 1. - C:20/13/1 (A08-44; A08-70; A12-78; A18-27)
This Series contains audio and video tapes from the holdings of the Journalism Library, (1990-1999). The video tapes (VHS format) document conferences, presentations, or other Journalism School-related productions, including "Rock 'n' Rap," (1993), "Secrets, Lies and Freedom of Information Conference," (1998), "Ranly on Grammar," (1995), "Making Inernational News A Good Local Story," (ca. 2002), "What The Public Really Expects From The News Business," (1998), and others. Also included are audio cassettes from the Investigative Reporters and Editors National Conference, (1994) and "Ranly on Communication." In addition, the Series contains the program for "Rock 'n' Rap," exercise sheets for "Ranly on Grammar," and the printed transcript of "The Wall Comes Down," (1990).

Series 2. - C:20/13/3 (A09-13)
This Series contains three 8"x10" photographs of the Journalism Library. The earliest photograph is dated 1923 and the other two are undated. Two of the photographs feature Julia E. Sampson, who began working in the library in 1920, serving as Librarian from 1930 to 1943.

Restrictions Note: The Archives of the University of Missouri-Columbia is required by law and Board of Curator's policy to restrict access to some files and information. Student records are held as confidential under the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 and by University policy. Faculty promotion and tenure records and Academic Personnel files are restricted for 75 years, or the lifetime of the individual. All grievance, disciplinary, and medical records are treated as confidential files. Consultations with legal counsel, both in-house and external, are protected by the attorney/client privilege and will not be released.
