Records Title: UMC; School of Journalism; Glass-Plate Negatives
Dates: 1910-1915, bulk 1912-1913
Volume: 5/6 cubic foot, 1 linear feet

Scope and Content Note

(A84-91)
This Record Sub-Group contains glass negatives created by the University of Missouri School of Journalism. Subject matter of these glass-plate negatives include: MU Journalism Week, athletic teams and games, classroom interiors, dining halls, student rooms, scenes on Francis Quadrangle, campus buildings, Farmers' Fair, Hobo Day, May Day, women's stunts, upperclassmen hazing Freshmen, St. Patrick's celebration, Christian College activities, Boone County courthouse, scenes in downtown Columbia, student activities and scenes, and University events such as Commencements. Photographs of early School of Journalism presses and typesetting machinery are also included. Numerous unidentified people make up many of the images.

Historical Note:

These are negatives removed from the attic of the School of Journalism. Some seem to have been used in the Savitar. Many are damaged, especially on the corners. The collection was kept in original order. Many negatives are undated; however, the content restricts them to the first decades of the 20th century.

Series Descriptions:

This Sub-Group is not divided into separate series. Arrangement of the Sub-Group follows the creating office's original order.
