Scope and Content Note

This Sub-Group contains administrative records pertaining to the School of Journalism, Freedom of Information Center. In 1959, the Freedom of Information Center was established in a ceremony commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the School of Journalism. Financed by funds given for programs during that anniversary. After that time, regular annual fund raising campaigns began. From 1958-1986, Paul L. Fisher was director of Freedom of Information Center. Following that time administration of Freedom of Information Center became the responsibility of the director of University of Missouri-Columbia Libraries. The Center remained part of the University Libraries until 2001, when it was returned once again to the MU School of Journalism. Materials in this Sub-Group include committee minutes, correspondence, financial information, and fund raising feasibility and development.
