Scope and Content Note

This Sub-Group contains records relating to student life, activities, and governance within MU residence halls. Included within the Sub-Group are handbooks, pamphlets, house constitutions, newsletters, house meeting minute books, financial reports, expense ledgers, news clippings, wedding invitations, "Senior's Wills," photographs, and memorabilia.

Series Descriptions:

Series 1. - C:22/14/1
This Series contains records of student activities and government in the residence halls on the UMC campus (1942-1978). Included in this series are guidelines for residence hall staff and management, and freshman orientation as well as pamphlets relating to the Independent Residence Hall Association, the Women's Residence Hall Association, co-operative residence halls, and privately owned residence halls. Also included in the Series are files pertaining to applications for housing, food service, room rates, recognition banquets, house constitutions, mimeographed newsletters, and publications related to "Mom's Weekend." Finally, this Series contains an article on the history of residence hall at the University of Missouri-Columbia and a copy of the Marmaduke House Constitution.

Series 3. - C:22/14/2a (A88-59)
This Series contains microfilmed housing contracts and scrapbooks relating to the University of Missouri-Columbia Templecrone cooperative housing unit for women (ca. 1947-1984).

Series 4. - C:22/14/3
This Series contains handbooks for the residence halls, (1943, 1946-1947, 1951-1997). For the earlier years there are separate handbooks for men's residence halls, women's residence halls, and resident hall general information. Later years combine all the information concerning residence halls into one handbook, with some in academic calendar format.

Series 5. - C:22/14/4
This Series contains plaques, trophies and certificates awarded to various residence halls and housing groups for placing in homecoming, athletic, and other intramural events (1952-2001), certificates from the National Association of College and University Residence Halls (1957, 1971, 1972), scrapbooks from Lathrop Hall (1960-1969), and one copy of Your Community residence halls handbook (1982). The collection also includes two 8x10 photographs of the Lathrop Hall Council & Homecoming Committee, three 8x10 photographs of Blair and Dobbs Groups Residence Halls and numerous smaller photographs and negatives of residence halls and unidentified staff personnel, all of which are undated.

Series 6. - C:22/14/5 (A15-03)
This Series contains memorabilia of the Templecrone Cooperative at the University of Missouri, (1956-1960). The memorabilia consist of a Templecrone pin with guard and key received by MU alumna Nancy Ehrlich (née Mills). The key signifies Ehrlich's duties as Templecrone treasurer, an office she held for two school years, (1958-1960). Ehrlich resided in Templecrone during her four years at MU.

Note to Archivist: The memorabilia in Series 6 was donated by Nancy M. Ehrlich who received a Bachelor of Science degree in Education in 1960.

Series 7. - C:22/14/6 (A19-32)
This Series contains records of the Residence Halls Association of the University of Missouri, (1958-2018). The records consist of awards, plaques, and a certificate presented to the Association from various entities, including the Midwest Affiliate of College and University Residence Halls (MACURH) and the National Residence Hall Honorary. Also included in the Series are two plaques commemorating Polk House as basketball champsions, (1958-1959, 1974-1975) and an Residence Halls Association pin.
