[photograph of Memorial Union] Photos by Tau, University Photographer. New South Wing Culminating a project begun more than four decades ago to erect a union building on the campus, a new wing now adjoins the south side of Memorial Tower. The addition matches the Gothic architecture of the Tower and of the north wing of the Memorial Student Union which was completed in 1952. And it covers the stone foundation which remained unfinished for almost forty years pending the clearing of legal entanglements and a source of funds for fulfillment of earlier plans. The addition augments the services of the north wing and provides more space for student organizational meetings. The ground and its food services. The first floor has offices for the administrative staff and an auditorium to accommodate 300 persons. The second floor has a series of meeting rooms of various sizes. The third floor features the Alumni-Faculty Lounge and the Board room, pictured on opposite page, as well as several meeting rooms. 2 / Missouri Alumnus / October '63 [photograph of interior of Alumni-Faculty Lounge and Board room] [caption] The Alumni-Faculty Lounge, above, on the top floor of the new wing, is an elegantly furnished room for alumni and faculty functions. Picture below is the nearby Board room, where the University's Board of Curators meets when in Columbia. Portrait is of the late Powell B. McHaney, former president of the Curators. Adjoining the handsome Board room is a waiting room. Furnishings for each of these "show places" were provided by the University of Missouri Alumni Association. 3 / Missouri Alumnus / October '63 New South Wing [photograph of interior of meeting room] University Photo Service.
