[page 1] University of Missouri Dedication of Baird Chimes and Clock Presented to the University by Charles Baird [photograph of chimes] Thursday, November Twenty-six Nineteen Hundred Thirty-six Columbia, Missouri [page 2] [photograph of Charles Baird] Mr. Charles Baird After graduating from the University of Michigan in 1895, Mr. Baird practiced law in Chicago for two years. From 1898 to 1909 he served as Athletic Director for his Alma Mater, the University of Michigan. Mr. Baird moved to Kansas City, Missouri, in 1909, where he has been engaged in business since that time. Mr. Baird has taken an active interest in the University of Missouri since he has resided in this State. In 1921 he was appointed Chairman of the Board of Visitors of the University of Missouri, in which capacity he still serves. He has also served as a Trustee for the Kansas City Country Day School and as a member of the Kansas City Board of Education. In 1930, Mr. Baird established at the University of Missouri the Baird Classical Scholarhip of $100 which is offered each year for the encouragement of scholarly attainment in Greek and Latin literature.
