Established in 1888, it is the third oldest experiment field in the country. This gives it great value from the standpoint of soil and crop differences due to this long period of varying cropping practices and soil treatments. Froma plot on this field came the soil sample which supplied aureomucin to the world. Dean and Director Sanborn who visited the experiment field in 1926, a;,os a half century after its establishment.
